So, Scottland kindly accepted to be the poor sod who had to come to Stratford upon Avon with me to see David Tennant in Hamlet (See blog post http://www.therevcounter.co.uk/blogs/f...96-hamlet.html )

The decision was made to go on the bikes, despite the predicted weather and tbh I think it was a vague attempt at keeping our friendship intact...several hours trapped in a car with me in hyper-excited mode would try even the closest of relationships methinks.

We set off to spots of rain, which quickly grew heavier. A stop near Aylesbury for some fuel and Scottland donned his waterproof jacket whilst I merely looked on with slight jealousy of the fact I'd debated bringing my all-in-one and decided not to...light showers was all they said would come...medium showers was what we got...with that type of rain that gets you really wet

It is at this point we discover Scottland's headlight is not working (again - previous problem had been discovered quite recently by Scottland). No worries, says he, fuse and tape and it can be fixed - we can do that at Stratford.

So we head on our merry way again, pausing briefly just before Stratford to see exactly where in Stratford we need to be, then on the road again and within half an hour we're parked up just after the Courtyard Theatre.

A wander into the centre to see if we can find somewhere to buy fuses and tape, sadly not. There is both a Halfords a little ride away and a 24 hour Tesco - both of which should have these.

We look at the time and decide we shall head to the Tescos post-show and grab food now...little did we know this would turn out to be a foolish mistake!

Anyway, show was fab and we head over to the Tescos. Find fuses (luckily!) but no tape. Scottland has some other tape that would fit the job temporarily tho. So all is going well, we have the means and check out tools we have...damn.

For all the tool kits we had between us (thank you Metz for secretly hiding some on my bike and in my tank bag! ), we didn't have the right size allen key

Equiries at Tesco (who didn't have any tools which are apparently a "seasonal" item in the Midlands ) proved fruitless as even the employees didn't have any tools.

So off to the nearest garage we went...I don't know about Scottland but upon entering the forecourt my hopes faded...and indeed proved to be right.

This left Scottland with calling his breakdown...and him ushering me on my way for the long journey home. I felt (and still do feel) very bad and guilty for going, but he insists and I get home a little before three, after freezing my butt off and having to buy some bedsocks from a service station and wrapping my shrug around the base of my back to help warm up.

I'm dismayed to discover upon texting that he is STILL in Stratford Poor Scottland has a man repairing all his headlight wiring and I finally get a text a little before six that he is home...OMG! My guilt levels escalate!

He has since assured me that he still had a fab night - I just hope this hasn't put him off ever riding anywhere with me again!

So, just another mini-adventure...just this time it wasn't one of my bikes!

Hey, it's like I said, this sort of shit happens to me all the time....it wouldn't be a Scottland trip out without a little adventure....although just occasionally, it'd be nice if things went boringly smoothly....but what stories would I have to tell then?

I felt awful letting you go all that way on your own, but at the same time didn't want you hanging about for, as it turns out, hours when you have a family at home who would've worried about you!

It wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest driving up with you in the car, (I think next time I should use the Force and trust my gut instinct....still hindsight is a wonderful thing in.....erm, hindsight!), my patience and tolerance levels are legendary....and besides which, I was a little bit excited too, so we could've just giggled and gushed like schoolgirls all the way up....and back too I'll wager!

As for riding anywhere with you again, just try and stop me, I look forward to our next little adventure...oh, and I'll follow you anywhere, you're safe as houses you are!!

I had an absolute whale of a time and I'm chuffed and a little bit proud to have seen Patrick Stewart at his majestic best and David Tennant at the height, maybe, of his prowess as a very accomplished actor...thank you for allowing me that, you're a propah sweetheart and no mistake!
