Ok so after lunch we went on the Haunted Mansion before heading to the Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster. We go on a few more rides before we decide to head back to our hotel (The Cheyenne Hotel) for a rest, as it's going to be a long night.

After resting up we head back into Disneyland for dinner...a quick stop for her to get a new princess dress (a different Aurora one than she has at home)...Disneyland looks stunning lit up at night :)

We go to our reservation at the Auberge du Cendrillon. As we go in, Cinderella is waiting there to greet her, photographs are taken of the two princesses, Cinderella asks "who is your favourite princess?" to which she replies "Aurora"...Cinderella hides her disappointment ;D

At the very posh dinner (including the serving of fois gras to a veggie!) she gets to meet Snow White and "Le" Prince :)

This is followed by a very lovely Belle who talks with Claudia for quite a while, admittedly in French for the first few minutes, before a kiss is passed on from Daddy. Belle also asks "who is your favourite princess?" and the same answer is given. Belle goes on to ask if she had seen Aurora yet, but Claudia answers quite sadly that she hasn't...Belle comforts her with the answer that she (Aurora) "might be sleeping again" (for those that don't know, Aurora is Sleeping Beauty). ;D

And then comes the crowning glory...the holy grail...THE reason she has been excited...AURORA IS IN SIGHT!!! Like a moth drawn to a flame, Claudia slowly walks over to Aurora totally transfixed...my eyes are filling as I'm watching this...she waits patiently as she's with another little girl...but then Aurora turns round, smiles at her and then heads right past her to our table looking for her! :o

I point Claudia out to Aurora, the little lady's face lit up like a star. Discussions about dresses take place and Aurora wishes her a happy birthday. Claudia asks if she remembers waving to her in the parade yesterday and Aurora thinks for a moment before replying that "yes, yes she did remember". Cuddles and photographs taken (along with autograph) and sadly Aurora has to leave...leaving behind the happiest little girl ever ;D

After dinner we pop on the Snow White ride before taking our place for the night parade and fireworks.

Again her little face was a picture, she loved it all, was very excited...the parade and fireworks were amazing (and this comes from someone who isn't keen on fireworks!)...the end of a long birthday day is nearing an end.

As I'm getting another kiss and cuddle from the birthday girl, I get asked "did I arrange the fireworks for her birthday?" ...what kind of mother would I be is I answered any differently than a simple "maybe..." ;)

Will fill in other details of the trip in another blog, but wanted to get down her actual birthday whilst it was fresh...

Will fill in other details of the trip in another blog, but wanted to get down her actual birthday whilst it was fresh in my mind.

The day started by her (grumpily - due to late night) being woken, I was greeted with "I'm still asleep" but woke with a smile as I started singing Happy Birthday.

She discovered that our room had been decorated with Happy 5th Birthday balloons...we wonder who could have possibly put them there...definitely wasn't Mummy or Auntie Hayley. ;)

We head off for some breakfast then straight to Disneyland using out early passes.

Nice short queues for quite a few of the rides, Buzz Lightyear (we get the same scores), Star Tours (brilliant) and some rocket thing (sickening, especially with a five year old at the controls!). A bit of milling around, a drink and we head off to The Lucky Nugget in Frontierland for a character lunch.

We get shown to our seats and in a matter of minutes of getting our food out comes Mickey, Pluto and Daisy Duck - her little face lit up!

Mickey is the first she gets to meet, gets his autograph and lots of cuddles and "conversation". Then she gets to meet Pluto who sweeps her off her feet.

The along comes Daisy...although never been a particular favourite of hers, she is completely taken with her, giving her the biggest cuddles of all.

The characters have to go but are out again 10 minutes later but this time Eeyore (a favourite of mine) comes out with Mickey and Pluto. More cuddles from all of them.

Mickey comes back again later and spends quite a long time with her and then he has to go to take a birthday cake to a little boy...oh-oh...

Claudia, looking a little concerned, turns to me and says she "thinks Mickey must have forgotten it's her birthday"...but soon has big smiles as Mickey brings her a birthday cake whilst many of the waiting on staff and the rest of the restaurant goers sing happy birthday to her. ;D

Even more cuddles and kisses to Mickey and then off they go again.

Back again they all come out (with Daisy again this time) and Mickey comes over once more, spends EVEN MORE time with her and she is one very very happy little girl...

And so with lunch over, we head back into the park and on to the Big Thunder Mountain rollercoaster! :o;D

OMG where has the last five years gone?

This time five years ago, I was stuck in a stupid bed in The Royal london hospital waiting for them to stop fannying around and get my baby out of me.

Fast forward five years and I have a list as long as my arm as to what I have to do this week:

Monday:

Bake princess birthday cake

Decorate princess birthday cake

No doubt re-decorate princess birthday cake as I'm not happy with first attempt (best bake two cakes)

Order balloons for party on Wednesday

Tuesday:

Wonder what I've forgotten to do ready for birthday party on Wednesday

Wish for rain free afternoon on Wednesday

Pack suitcase for EuroDisney on Thursday without the little one realising what I'm packing as it's a surprise

Attempt to decide whether to take any presents with me or let her open them when she gets home

Wednesday:

Tescos to collect a few extra bits to go in party bags

Collect balloons

Get little one bathed and then dressed up

Get up to the venue, inflate additional balloons

Hope that children turn up to party

Hope rain stays away

Come home

Have a look at birthday presents including writing who gave what for thank you cards

Head to my Big Bro's for the night

Thursday:
EURODISNEY!!!!!!

Friday:
EURODISNEY!!!!!!
Baby Girl's actual birthday so a very full day - intend to do the whole lot, cake is ordered, special lunch, everything :burnout:

Saturday:
EURODISNEY!!!!!!

At some point I'm pretty cure I get to sit down and have some time to myself, but I have a feeling that is at approximately 2230 on Saturday night. :wtf:

Still - it's an exciting week, still can't believe she's about to turn five...let alone only have another week before she's in Year One at school and she meets her new teacher! :)

Well I can hardly believe it, tomorrow (Friday 10th July 2009) is Baby Angel's last day at school, end of Reception year and the beginning of her first summer holidays...where did the year go? :o

Her school work has all come through, I love to look through it all.

So now at the end of her first year at school, she's made lots of friends, won her main race at sports day, learnt to read and write, developed her social skills amongst other children, gained even more confidence, grown a bit taller, her hair got longer, more scrapes and bumps than I can remember, lots of awards, lots of house points, has got through several uniforms and lots of money raised on her sponsored bounce for the PTA.

The school merges next year, so the name has changed, as have the uniforms. Today we found out she will be in Mrs Berry's class (amusing that her Reception teacher's maiden name was Berry too!), but sadly being split up from many of her friends as they have split them by when they were born.

So it's all done...the first year nearly over...that was very quick...cannot help wondering if the next 13 will be just as quick!?! :o

So very proud of my baby girl...and so onto enjoying the summer and then the First Year for her...

Children and the subject of death

Baby Angel, at the age of four, has been affected by death twice already with my Paternal Grandfather and Maternal...

Baby Angel, at the age of four, has been affected by death twice already with my Paternal Grandfather and Maternal (Step) Nana, having been very close to the former and been to the spreading of his ashes (she was only two), she came to my Nana's funeral last year.

She has been told, and understands, that they have gone to live with the angels and thanks to some wind chimes being near where my Grandfather was scattered (with his wife and one of his sons), my parents said to her that "Whenever you hear wind chimes, that's those who now live with the angels talking to you".

A pure coincidence meant us being near some wind chimes when my Nana was buried and she piped up that "Nana was already saying hello" :) (different cemetery completely)

A cheery child, she has informed my Mother, her Grandma, that she is "not to die until she (baby angel) is 16" - quite specific instructions which has amused my mother greatly ;D Bargaining has also come along in the form of "When Monet (our cat) dies, and we have had three more cats then can we get a dog?" ;D

The reason I write this is for the conversation baby angel and I had this morning on the way to school...she brought up my death. She told me that she wouldn't be able to see me again when I went to live with the angels (I didn't have the heart to correct her on my probable afterlife companions ;)).

She went on that she would miss me lots, but was happy because she knew she would always be able to talk to me and that she would always listen for the chimes because that would be Mummy talking to her.

The point at which I'm almost crying is when she said to me that "it would all be okay though because she loves me so much that she would never forget me" :'(

It's been seven months since my little girl started school, and yet it's only the last week that things have really hit...

It's been seven months since my little girl started school, and yet it's only the last week that things have really hit me...the big thing that has hit me is that the separation of mother and child has actually began and I didn't realise it! :(

Parents evening was this week, and as opposed to the previous one in the Autumn, this time we got to look through her work and a good chat with her teacher.

Seeing her work was very sweet, so nice to look through it all and see stuff that I didn't have a clue she did.

Chat with her teacher and was pleased to be told she's doing very well and is at the top of the class. Her reading is very good and she has started on Year 1 books (she's in Reception year so is already onto next year's reading matter *proud*).

As we look around the classroom we see many pieces of her (and others) work, but only one that she's talked about.

Her teacher tells us of her "being teacher" and helping her - first we've heard!

And therein lies the problem...she doesn't tell us all the things she gets up to in school...and this is what lead me to the realisation, albeit many months after it probably should have hit me, that for six hours a day I have no real clue about what she does, how she behaves, whether she's happy or sad (she seems happy as she loves school!), whether she struggles to do anything, hell even the thought of my little girl with a lunch tray getting her food has suddenly filled me with a want to spy on her just to see her do it!?!

I don't mean this in an "over-protective mother" kind of way...more in that I am, by nature, quite nosey, but more to do with the fact I want to be able to see my little girl doing these things...to see her taking the steps towards growing up. I know I see her at home...but I'm just too damned nosey! ;D

And anyway...I still don't remember giving her permission to grow up. >:(;)

Josh Groban not only has possibly one of THE most beautiful voices, he's also very easy on the eye (and yet another addition to my growing suspicions of an underlying curly hair fetish I may have :wtf:).

For those of you that know me, I will give you an indication of how amazing his voice is (to me)...some may know I'm not really one for "embracing" new musicians to my list of favourites...some may also have noticed my love of U2...well...this guy is sooooo good, I'm considering changing my "Desert Island (Compact) Disc" to be his latest collection released in Europe :o:o Yes. I really did say that. HIS cd might be taken instead of The Joshua Tree.

I realise I might burn in hell for this...but he's so worth it, and tbh I am probably going to burn anyway :smoke:

Being Human (tv series) - 2009 - BBC Three
Starring Russell Tovey, Aiden Turner and Lenora Crichlow

TV series first piloted in 2008, signed up for a full series.

It's about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost sharing a house in Bristol. Well that was quite enough to get me to watch.

Only one episode has been on so far, and it was excellent.

It's made me reassess a previously held opinion on Russell Tovey (wet lettuce on he Titanic Doctor Who Christmas Special), he's very good in it. A slightly nervous werewolf called George who hides himself away when the moon is out.

Aiden plays the vampire, Mitchell. Good looking, gift of the gab, charasmatic...everything a vampire should be to be honest. He's trying not to drink from people.

Lenora plays the ghost, Annie. Only just now being able to be seen by people, she's a little insecure and misses her fiance. Very chatty and likeable.

First episode has a lot of informaton giving, including how they got the way they are and there is a large vampire collective hitting the place...a lot of these seem to be bad guys so far.

Old school effects for the werewolf transformation which is nice to see, rather than lots of CGI.

So...if the rest of the series is to continue as the first, then it should be a good series - worth checking out.

First episode is available on the BBC iPlayer for the next 39 days if you want to.

Ripley (David M) runs an arcade and wants to build a super casino and hotel - very much a "stereotypical Northern man of the selfish ilk" (ie uses people, pompous, shags around, bit dodgy).

He's married to Natalie (Sarah Parish), living in a posh house (in Blackpool!) with their kids Shyanne (20) and Danny (teen - 17 maybe, has been seen in school uniform so maybe younger).

D.I.Carlisle (David T) brought in from Kendal to investigate the discovery of a body at the arcade, a lad who had crossed Ripley a few nights before.

Carlisle lies to Natalie and they have an affair, falling very quickly in love with each other.

Shyanne is dating someone old enough to be her dad, Danny is getting himself into trouble but essentially a good kid.
That's pretty much the need to know on plot...and as I still have two episodes to go on this six-parter, I can't actually give away the ending.

The whole thing is pretty well acted tbh, and I am enjoying the whole thing. The characters are very well defined and despite the feeling of utter repulsion I have for Ripley, there is a part of me that feels a little sorry for him too (some back story comes out and you can't help feeling there is more to him you will never know).

The song, and often dance, routine's in the show take some getting used to...a bit like when they did the whole "speed up/slow down" thing in Green Wing (if you watched that?). As is always seeing DT's character eating!

So, it's a little strange as a mini series, but maybe that strangeness is it's appeal? :) Recommended viewing.

Well...that and the fact I got to see a very semi naked DT ;)

He was basically the reason I faced my fear of spiders and went to see Arachnaphobia! Ok, I may have screamed a few times and put bite marks in my then b/f's hand...but it was worth it to see him...well...until he died in the film...

Now, I know this is possibly not an oft discussed subject but bloody hell, she's like a sasquatch :o

Who is the big headed goon that is replacing the delectable Mr Tennant? Who knows...but he's got a weird head, I don't like his voice, he's too young and mostly he is NOT David Tennant*. :(

Anyway, only 12 months left of DT, then the regeneration will happen and although the Moff's writing is fantastic, I'm going to be surprised if the new lad lasts more than one series...well, ok, so I'm hoping for my very own Christmas special that will be something like this:

Big time crisis brings together various generations of The Doctor...minimum count should be the new boy (Matt Smith), David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston (with the possibility of other Doctors for a more complex plotline), resulting in the regeneration of the 11th Doctor into the 12th Doctor, who will be played by Sean Pertwee.
Ok so it may need some work to fill out the story, but I reckon it'd be great and wouldn't need to resurrect any Daleks or Cybermen for the special. :smoke:

* ok I realise this part was always going to be an issue for anyone who replaced him. ;D

Oh and just because this is Doctor Who related I'm posting another DT pic ;D
