I remember power cuts at school and the 3 day working week because the shops were only open on selective days.
    Flares and Oxford bags.
    Platform shoes.
    Drugs
Beer and Cider and lots of it.
Liverpool were kings of Europe. Manchester United getting relegated from the top tier.
Wales and Mervyn Davies were kings of European Rugby
The scousers didn't finish the decade as kings of Europe, though.

I had a pair of platforms with 3" heels - as I'm 6'1" anyway, it made walking through doors a nightmare.

And those were the days when you could spend your lunch break in the pub and nobody said a word about you getting back to work more than a little pissed.

All these so called rebels who are now big noises in the establishment probably just wore the clothes and grew the hair etc but still inwardly craved material success.

All I have to show for dropping out is no higher education, no trade and fifteen years less pension contributions and that and more of living hand to mouth in a succession of dead end jobs and having to do ridiculous amounts of overtime just to subsist. My choice. No complaints.

    Playground phrases?

"itchy chin" "all join in who want's a game of war!" "Larry Grayson" "that's a laugh and a half" - ref cadburys milk chocolate..

We had a teacher in 79, Mr Arthurs, during "relaxation" (30 kids lying on a parquet hall pretending to be asleep) he'd play Holsts' Planets, he was also Cricket bonkers so on one of those hazy summer afternoons he'd drag us all out for a game of French cricket - the envy of juniour 4 peering through the glass at us was palpable.

The supermarkets were full of crap - I think the trolleys even had ash trays on 'em?

Soda stream (thats' fizzee!!) Willie Rushton, Bernard Cribbins... War films.. watching Dads' Army only to be repeatedly disapointed that it featured no actual war, my parents disaproval of Grange Hill and Tiswas, my dad perving at the girls on TOTP -now I do this

I was middle class so we had soufle, quiche and salad.. and my dads racer, the common kids had take-aways, fry-ups, fray bentos, bmxs, scalextric, DMs, loafers and Clarkes polyfelt.

Lego when you had to make/ape Star Wars not just buy a fucking walker.. Chemistry sets.

    Sabrina Whitfield, I loved her.

    etc.
