I also think the deer was just trying to protect it's young.

Funny i was asking that the other night. I was watching a program about the great white shark off seal island at north Africa. One seal got away from the shark but had a large gash in its side. The guys on the boat got it out the water and just let it go again in safer shallow water. Poor thing looked like it would not stand a chance. I though they would have shot the poor thing.

Like I said upthread, it's a wild animal. Do you know you're unlikely to get hurt just because the damn thing looks like Bambi's mum? Before it attacked the dog, would you have put money on Bambi's mum getting the best of (what looked like) a collie?

Absolutely. Your average domestic dog is soft as shite. It's also never (assuming it comes from a normal family) ever had any experience of violence.

And my collie made soft as shite dogs look like terminators.
