Thumbs up The Official™ 2014 Fat Loser Thread

My name is Silly Car and I'm planning to be one of the biggest losers this year as I've seemingly stacked on a pile of weight over the last two years.

    Here are the sad facts:

    Name: Silly Car
Age: 43 in 8 days time
    Current Weight: 116.3kg
    Height: 6'2"
    Target Weight: 95kg
Method: Low fat, Low Carb and exercise

My target weight still gives me a BMI of over 25 but that is a comfortable size for me.

Moi. I hit the big 50 last year and lost a stone with little effort but have put that and a bit more on recently. I can easily gain half a stone by drinkng reguarly and have certainly been doing that over the festive season.

I'm 6 ft 2" and 19 stone 2. I'm dropping a minimum of 2 stone by august but really hope to drop 3.

Find a picture of you that upsets you because you look big or fat in it and stick copies of it inside food cupboards and on the fridge. For me facebook has been the eye opener. I'm tall and tend to bend down and lean forward to look in mirrors to shave etc. So I only see myself with my neck sort of stretched out iyswim and had no idea how fat I am/look. I've been quite shocked to see some of the pictures of me on facebook and how big I look. One of these photos is on my fridge as I disgust myself looking like that and will change it this year.

It's all "me me me" with you, isn't it?

I don't think I can join you. I want my overall weight to go up. It sits stubbornly at 70/71 kg no matter what I do.

I am looking to get less fat in a couple of places and more muscular in others, but nothing that can sensibly be compared or measured unless we get out the tape measures. And that just seems wrong, yeah?

    Name: Makman
    Age: 43 already
Current Weight: 107kg (Lost 13kg's in the past year anyhow).
    Height: 6'5"
    Target Weight: 95kg
Method: Low fat, Low Carb and higher level cardio exercise, with minor strength training

Once my back and neck are back in shape I'll be back to rowing and cycling for cardio exercise and some light weights stuff, no full stack games anymore as I do not want to bulk. 58cm biceps were fun, but cost too much in food. I'm now down to a slimmed 43cm and staying that way.

Target is 36inch trousers. I need to get the gut lost and the weight off my sides and belly. One advantage is that I don't drink much anyhow.

    I will be kind off.

Silly - can I suggest the 5/2 regime, its not a diet per se but with your cooking skills its easily doable without being a chore.

I started the 5.2 diet about three months ago and am happy to pass on how Mrs RBGee and me have been getting on. I'm 6'1 and weighed best part of 120KG or 19 stone. I'm now 18.5 stone or 117kg which is not a huge loss but a loss none the less.

The diet the way we have interpreted it goes like this in our life. Mon low cal day and Thurs. The rest of the days are eat normally days. Other days are available. In my case I found that the 600 Kcal I'm allowed on the fast days were best used in an evening meal and I have nothing else earlier, apart from keeping the fluid intake up, again in may case I drink tea and coffee during the day and water (I don't take milk or sugar anyway) The meal you get with 600 Kcal is pretty good to be honest and I don't miss eating earlier in the day as my job is not that physical. The toughest time is late evening, you feel pretty hungry but if you occupy yourself it passes. Other effects are (for me ) sleep disruption, on fast days, and I feel tired the day after a fast day. We both fast on the same days and take it in turns to come up with an interesting meal for the evening, always feels nice to have someone else think something up.

Other options are calorie counted meals like John west ones (Horrid IMO) tesco finest ones (better) or for the most "quantity" measured amounts of, carrot, grated. Vine tomatoes, celery drained Tuna (in Brine) mixed with coriander/spring onion/jalapino's anything fresh with taste, rocket etc etc Bit of salt and pepper and a dash of Vinegar mixed up. Add a boiled egg ect you end up with a large pile of Salad.

    I use this place ...

    Calorie Count Search - tomatoes

as a guide to the calorific value of stuff and make it up as we go along.

The weight loss is slow and you get used to the lifestyle change after about a month or so. I also intend to start doing some more push bike which since I stopped working in Cardiff has taken a bit of a pasting, I don't currently have a bike-able commute but when the daylight gets a bit better / weather cheers up. i will up the road work.

Loosing only half a stone is not enough by about 2 & 1/2 stone but its a start. Two or three of my friends have done very well on this diet and now only do a "maintenance day" once a week. Hopefully the weight loss wont Yo Yo as it takes a longer time to achieve a weight loss. I still have beer on the normal days BTW if I cut that out as well say during the rest of the week I'm sure I'd loose more and quicker but I want to try and "be normal" and keep the weight off. You still get two 48hr periods alcohol free a week which is an improvement for me! Cutting down the amount on normal days would help....next step)

We both notice things seem to "Work better" once you settle into the new regime.

BTW Mrs RBgee's calorie quota is 500Kcal for her size on fast days.
