anyone comfortable with VMware here?

im running VMware server (its all new to me),v and would liek to copy/clone one of my virtual machines. there doesnt seem to be a ...

    Default anyone comfortable with VMware here?

    im running VMware server (its all new to me),v and would liek to copy/clone one of my virtual machines.

    there doesnt seem to be a concept of cloning using VMWare server, just taking a snapshot...

    any pointers?

    hmmm... is it so simple that all i have to do is copy the VM directory on the host O/S?

    Yep. Pretty easy.
    I find VMware a PITA though unless you;re building ESX server farms. Sun virtualbox is much better, and completely free. VMware free version cripples performance.

    well its new to me as ive said, already encountered some quirks...

    next step is setting up some clones, a NAT, and some SMTP/DNS/FTP

    after beating my head against the wall trying to set up networking on VMware server and failing miserably, i find out it wont work with my laptop/windows 7.

    the sys admin came down and had a go and couldnt get any of my images to pick up an IP...

    DHCP/SSH wasnt working and i couldnt install any packages from my local host..

    lol...

    BLARK!!

    i was told to use VMware server btw... grr
