Can't you plug your HDD in, run a search (hold down control [ctrl] button and press the 'F' key) and search for the name of a track you know was previously in itunes? Then you might find the right folder etc?
Green blob on it's way, yea?![]()

There were a couple of iPhone apps that stopped working for me and the Googled advice was to download and install them again. I got the "you've already purchased this item-would you like to purchase this again ?" message but wasn't actually charged anything. Try downloading a single track and see if you get stung.
Apps are always free to re-download mate. I've sent support an email
Yes, I am synching and no, it won't allow me to do what you describe. I am authorised on that other machine, but there are no available downloads nor access to previously downloaded material
I had this before, I emailed Apple with a list of the music I had bought that was lost, they credited my account to the same value so I could re-download.
As for Apps, I simply went and re-downloaded them again, it recognised I had bought them before so did not charge me again, be mindful that you don't inadvertently buy one with the + sign on it if you didn't have the + (hd) version before or you will have to pay full whack.
Update for those of you still on the edge of your seat about this; was contacted today by Apple. All previous downloads have been made available. As that's in the region of nearly a grand in fil.ms/music, i'm very chuffed. Obviously, i'll endeavour to back up my itunes store.
Out of courtesy, Apple also credited me with 50 free song downloads. whilst the email I wrote them was long, I thought that was a nice touch from them. Good job, Apple.
Cool! Glad it's sorted!
