New Phone Needed

My current phone, a Nokia XpressMusic learned to swim a while ago and is now playing up, so need a new one.

I never use crap like Facebook or Twitter or use it for roaming. I only ever use it on my home network or free Wifi in a pub. Apart from calls and texts, it will only be used for popping into TRC or checking on emails.

So, what's out there that is simple, quick and cheap ?

Andriod, big screen as your getting old

Can pick up the half Tablet , half phone Samsung Note for 30 quid a month, loads of free minutes and data......as advertised on t' telly!!

Very true, but we worked out the other year that if you get a Phone for say 580 then work out how much it costs for 30 per month 24 month contact with free roaming calls and data it works out about 6 quid a month which is cheaper than if you get caught short and need to use your phone. (PAYG) usually costs most a tenner a month!

You can get a basic handset that will go online for as little as £30. I got one from Vodafone when my last phone got nicked.

I'd go and look in Carphone Warehouse as @£100 will get you all sorts of smartphones on PAYG, stick your SIM in and (as they usually they sell unlocked phones) you are go. If not an evening looking at unlocking sites on the net will sort it out.

I have a old Orange San Francisco (ZTE Blade) that has never been on Orange, the latest version, the San Francisco II, is a ZTE Crescent. Can be unlocked and de branded easily enough by the look of things. Also @£100.
