    Default TNT Sat

This is probably something of a long shot but has anyone bought a TNT Sat system?

And any ideas how I can get access to my sat dish - the roof's on a bungalow so not that high but roof ladders are stupidly expensive to buy and getting a sat guy in to just move the dish 15 degrees is around £70.

How difficult can it be on a bungalow?

Seriously, what's the rough pitch of the roof, and what's it's covered with? Most modern roofs can be marched about on w/o even cracking tiles. My low pitch roof doesn't really require a roof ladder - the one on my property in the UK it was easy enuff to borrow one from a neighbour.

You might consider moving the dish somewher more accessible btw - doesn't have to be up high.

The tiles are very old and covered in moss. I know what'll happen if I just go tramping up it anyway.

I'm also surrounded by trees so the dish needs to be as high as possible unfortunately.

Well if it's not too steep you might be able to get away with chucking a few boards up there but TBH if it looks too precarious 70 quid may be money well spent.

The reason I mention the sat dish siting is that over here I've seen them pointing into walls at ground level and they still seem to work.

Last time i did it on a cottage i went up the stone end and sat on the peak and pulled myself over too the dish. Not a tile out of place.

Not the most reliable technology it has to be said. They are notorious for blowing up.

It would be money well spent but unfortunately the idea was to get oodles of French TV on the cheap. It's not for watching for pleasure as such (as you well know, French TV is pretty dire) but for helping me improve my intonation when speaking. I got hammered on my last exam scores for dropping back into English intonation a number of times but I found five days surrounded by native speakers (even when some of them had strong ch'ti accents) helped enormously with my spoken French.

I'm going to have to have a look around to see if that's possible. The problem I have is that there's already a sat dish on the roof and this is a historic area where the council don't like to many modern additions (such as sat dishes) and the problem with line of sight. It may be the best solution, though.

That would be the best solution, however (you knew there was going to be a 'however' didn't you? ) there isn't a gable end as such as we're sandwiched between two other buildings.

It might pay then to leave the original one (presumably pointing at Freesat Astra 24E for English speaking stuff) and lob up another dish somewhere convenient pointing at the French one. Mines behind the woodshed and a bush, you'd have to be really petty to object.
