how to get some drivers from one XP computer to another

scenario-two different spec'd machines both running XP. The GF has a samsung galaxy S3. Due to me fiddling around with samsung's god awful KIES software when she had an older samsung (so ages ago & a much older vsn of KIES) my own machine, whilst not now running KIES, sees the phone properly in windows. Her's whilst having d/l latest KIES, won't. It still won't if I use an older vsn of KIES. All she wants to do is open it with windows & use explorer to drag her photos off it.

So it seems to me I've got at least the drivers that will work. How do i copy these from mine to hers & install them please?

I did see this via google. Sound right to you experts?

You'll find the files you need in your C:\Windows\System, C:\Windows\Inf, and C:\Windows\Help folders. Unfortunately, separating these files from the rest of those folders' content is a long, boring, and near-impossible procedure.

So don't do it. Instead, copy the complete contents of these folders (probably about 100MB) from your old computer to a single folder on your new computer. Call the new folder C:\drivers. And don't worry about wasting space--you won't have to keep that folder for long

where from, how to identify, how to install or do I just drop them into the same folders in the machine needing them please?

Either download them again from the internet or start to download them, see where the computer wants to save them and look there.

At worst my replies will keep this at the top of the page.

If your machine can see the phone why not copy the pictures to that then transfer the pictures themselves via USB stick?

You're already in a pickle, I'd stop adding gherkins if I were you.

Identify the problem clearly and solve it properly.

should have been-those according to forums are the last known good ones. But no. Her blasted PC isn't even acknowledging the phone is even attached to it.

yes, done, but the thing is for her to do it herself.

Anything showing in device manager?

Right click My Computer>Manage>Device manager>USB controllers

you can get programs that do this

i have not used the program below, its just for an example

nothing-not even charging. last time it came up as mobile device. I've restored the PC back to Dec 30th which was just before I started arsing about with all this (& it saw it back then)-nope. Reinstalled KIES, updated, reboot, connection trouble shooter (aka reinstall drivers) absolutely nothing. The USB is an extension/flying single dock. This sees a keydrive properly. The phone & the samsung lead works fine in mine. My old samsung & it's lead comes straight up on hers.

Think I'm going to resign to being beaten on this one. As said, I'll just take the piccies off on mine. Be nice to get to the bottom of it, but spent a disproportionate amount of time on it already.

It's an app for the phone, lets you drag files over your local (wireless) network.

Kies is the worst software ever, and totally unneeded as the phone will update over the air anyway.
