    Default Twitter: Advice Please

Okay. I've read the destructions but I'm still not sure if I am doing the right thing. Let's say if for example I am following Ratty and I want to send a tweet do I do this:

@wrecklessratinfo. Hi Ratty where are all the bums?

What I don't get is should I have a copy of the tweet/message? If yes where?

How can I tell if the recipient has received the message.

    Ta for any help.

It takes a few moments for your message to him to show up if you tweet him, annoying but that's the lag.

You're not sending a message as such, merely making a post that anyone can see that he specifically will be alerted to. Generally it's not a direct one-to-one system like email or SMS but something you announce to anyone that cares to look in to see. Anyone that's explicitly referenced by an @ symbol will be alerted to it but it's not a private message. You need to do a direct message (DM) for that

You don't get a copy, you can see you've tweeted it and that's enough. You can't tell if he's read it, most people skip pointless fluff.

Of course, all of your followers and all of his followers will have seen it, so it might be worth using the private message function if you're only going to post something best kept private.

Thank You all. This is why forums are great. You can look at an Help Page but if it is poorly explained you get a little stuck. Now it makes sense.
