Default MG tf potential next purchase. any ideas?

I seem to remember some of you knowing about these...anything to avoid (other than head gaskets)?

Need a moderately reliable, economical, but fun car. Some longer trips, most under 100 miles.

Will a 2004 135 or 160 cope with every day life without spitting cams and gearboxes all over the floor?

Do they really return 40ish on a gentle run?

Will I start asking where people are going on holiday?

Quite a good community, but the MGF/TF section is a little cliquey.

Obviously the head gasket failure is the big thing to watch out for... Also check the coolant pipes which run underneath the car, as these corrode / get damaged. Check for corrosion overall, especially wheelarches. Not much else major goes wrong, though. They're nice wee cars, dead cheap.

That said, they are cheapy cheap cheap and they don't look terrible.

Mate insisted it was faster than my EP3 Civic Type-R.

Think that's what my mates father has.
Its tiny, no seriously, its tiny.
If your even faintly close to tall the top of the windscreen will be a bit low for you.
I'm five ten and hated it.
Other than that its a nasty leaky roofed little box of crap that feels like its going fast at about sixty.
In fact even my mates Fiat X19 has more luggage space and the roof on that's better than the MG.

My mates got two X19s, one Lancia Delta 4WD left hand drive turbo thing, his father has a Lancia Fulvia, two Lambdas, an Aprilia, a Zagato and there must be another Lancia I've forgotten about in there somewhere.
