Certainly a voyeuristic quality to watching that, but I feel the buzz is more anger at the brass neck of these kids thinking they can just waltz up to a shop like that in plain (well, dark) view.

If it was my shop, I would stick a few zx9rs front of shop; if that didn't put them off, it would certainly send them to sleep this rendering them useless and easy for 5-0 to pull.

I was in carphone warehouse yesterday. They told me that the company loses about 50k a DAY in theft. 3 hits a month on average just in Farnham alone- kids just walk in and rip out iPhones (apple don't supply dummy phones) and Samsungs and just fuck off. They said cw rather write that off than invest in very expensive CCTV. I am sure there is business logic in that, but I can't understand it. No cameras in any of their shops.

They are my 'local' KTM dealers, they have two shops opposite each other right on the main road into Croydon, the nerve of some of these people now in unbelievable.

What astounds me is that they were doing this in front of passers by, cars etc for around 5 minutes and still no sign of the Police.
The hosues opposite must have been disturbed by a disc cutter going through the shuttering.

Do the passers by just ignore it nowadays?

You've got about ten minutes then - you need to get the door & shutter off quicker and learn how to break the steering lock (FFS). All good practice.

Looks like the guy on the bike that pulled out of the side road spotted them, and possibly called someone. I'm pretty sure you'll find a fair few of the drivers called the police too.

Here's hoping that when all our police stations close that the police can get there as quickly as they did on that video. Considering Croydon is one of the worst hit areas by closures, it's unlikely.

I'm guessing they'll have a load more attempted thefts as soon as that happens.

I was thinking the same thing. But then when someone put a d-lock through my back wheel, I was working away at cutting it with bolt croppers in a busy thoroughfare and not one person gave me a second look.

I've seen a couple of CCTVs of ram raids oop north as well, seems to be becoming a popular thing. Once they are through the door they grab 3-4 bikes and are away in under 5 minutes. 20 grand to be sold abroad or stripped for parts, you'd have to be a banker to make that sort of hourly rate.

A few years ago I broke into a house, in a main road, in broad daylight.

Just one person, a little old lady, stopped and asked us what we were doing.

NB We jemmied off the architrave, then used a piece of plastic to slip the Yale. Easy, really.

Why? We'd 'borrowed' the house for a weekend - but after travelling half way across the country found the owners had given us the wrong set of keys It was easier to break in, then change the lock, than drive for 6 hours to get the right keys.

I would alternate Buell and ZX9. That way they would vomit, and then then doze off. Either way you'd find a pile of soporific youths or a load of chunder and all your bikes intact.

Being as they ran off when the police arrived how come police didn't catch them?

Stuff like this bugs the hell out of me, not only because these spineless fuckers are stealing but because it'll always escalate.

Remember Jimmy Chan a few years ago, caught stealing bikes (particularly KTM SM's) got caught, slap on the wrist and off he went, few years later he's leading a gang smashing jewellers windows and making off with in watches etc. If they's shot the little wanker when they first caught him he wouldn't of gone on to bigger things.

I do wonder why the police didn't catch them, but I can see why no one challenged them, one had a knife and you can assume the others would too, what could you do ?
