Default She flexes like a whore

I was thinking about those lucid bubbles of past time - those bits of episodic memory of random past events that are crystal clear, in every detail. So I wonder if that detail in you memory is at all accurate, or whether its filled in from archetype material stored in your data libraries. And that memory, is all there really is of that past. You won't find that detail anywhere else, and its only you that makes it real - like you are manufacturing the past, which has no independent reality at all. And there is no real present. The present is an illusion, as it takes time for the data from your senses to arrive and to be processed, and then projected onto the contextual backdrop of those memories that you were making up just now.

The Beatles was right, in Strawberry Fields.

I buried a monster and every bit of my memory is as real as it was in the past

The nicer times do tend to be way nicer than reality but thats how we roll

I was hoping to see something worthy of NSFW in this thread. I was most disappointed.

Try to read out loud in the office any post from Trog. We'll review your statement once security has escorted you out and you're nice and comfy at home rewriting your CV.

I see then. So, he's the 'special' person on the board ?

Special = On the Short Bus; A sandwich short for the picnic; IQ equals his age; wears a red shirt when everyone else wears blue. I get it now. Thank you.

That's a bit of a shit statement. AFAIK he comes across as a decent guy with a reasonably intact & functional grey matter to me. I s'pose that is all frame of reference though.

Whereas you come across as a trolling c.unt of the highest order. A n00b who knows fuck all about long time members, but assumes to, and an all round arsewipe

You may now fall wanking to the floor

Well that's not very friendly moth. Not very friendly at all. It is deeply unlovely to criticise a person for being ( relatively ) new to a given group. It's as if the eggs swirling in a frying pan to make an omelette were to get all upset about the arrival of some - elegantly crushed - black pepper. It would make no sense. It's a vital ingredient, yeah ?

Now, play nicely. Like this ->

    Back on topic, IIRC ...

We do not "manufacture" the entire past. It does have independent reality, which can be established quite convincingly by the coherence of a continual stream of inter-subjective tests ...

We do make our own pictures of the world. Our personal map. It's a jigsaw puzzle of remembered impressions, beliefs, habits, theories that we carry around with us, always building. Revising, adding. Some pieces drop out, from time to time, but we need not be concerned. We keep what we need. Or most of us do.

And many epistemologists would indeed point to the "theory laden" aspect of data, or evidence. If you look through a telescope, a little bit of what you see, and how you see it / interpret it, depends on your understanding of telescopes. You don't flinch if what you see is a gun pointed toward you, or at least, not like you would if it was suddenly drawn out from someone's pocket a few feet away. But mostly it depends on what's out there.

My experience of memory is deep. Due to the difficult with my hippocampus. I can remember quite clearly many aspects of experiences before 1975, independently verified. Many people find it quite remarkable. But I sometimes have trouble remembering what I had for dinner on Tuesday, or whether I've fed the cats, put the bin out, watered the tomatoes today ...

I have not the slightest doubt that the world carries on as it needs to, whether my grasp of what's happening is completely accurate or not.

Anything else would be a corrosive, unpalatable, and unproductive arrogance ...

    No, you don't see anything.

That's where the past comes in handy. There is all this myriad electrons storing Trog's posts (although with time and experience you learn the late-night ones are the most eye opening/mind bending). They are there to let you peer into the past to save you making any rash comment.

But is the search function manufactured? How do we know WB hasn't tweaked it to show us the way he wants to see the world? We only know because we compare its findings to our own memories. No different a myriad electrons (or cells), tweaked and adjusted to give us memories we feel real.

And in that reality, Trog is an all-around good guy, a lot smarter than your shitty post, who gives a considerable amount of personal time and money to the world of biking. If there is anything special about him, it's his place on the Hedge Path.

I told you a university for them wasn't a good idea. Just the cost of widening the doors alone, never mind them flooding the courtyard. Bloody hippo students
