    Default tomtom satnav repairs?

got a nearly new tom tom that the nipper trod on, and the screen is cracked.

the display is still working fine - it's just the outer screen.

    any recommendations for a repair?

    cheers.

Sigh. That's the tech equivalent of a woman saying "My car doesn't work. It's a blue one."

    TomTom Model No please?

Ebay is plastered with both parts to DIY and services to fix it for you I'm just about to change the battery on my Go 1000 so I'll be delving into manuals.

But the question would be the equivalent of "The windscreen on my new car is cracked, can I replace it?", you don't always need the make and model to answer. My reply is more useless than yours though as I have no idea.

    Answer: "yes you can".

Do you feel helped now? Glad I could be of service.

It's a tomtom XL - model number 4ET03 - found in the smallest of small printing by the charging lead port on the bottom. Needed a magnifying glass to read it!

    That's a great start.

It's tricky and that's an internal code which we'll not really be able to use, but it helped me to find this advice.....

"To get the real model name of your XL, put the first two characters of your serial number (the one next to the barcode) into the on-line product finder tool here"....
Which TomTom device do I have?

Once we get that, should be able to find part number and videos. Here's the sort of vids that are about (battery change and possibly different model, but you get the idea)....

I had a working Binatone with a cracked screen. I bought a non working one on ebay for 10 quid and swapped the parts over. It was just as easy as ^^ That you tube clip.
