Default Recommend me Some New Rubber

I currently have Kenda Nevegals and I just can't get on with them in the wet, they seem to slip and slide all over the place and they are really knocking my confidence.

What does the TRC massive (or should that be massive TRCs?) recommend? I want grippy rather than fast.

NextDayTyres have the Continental Rubber Queen Black Chili in a UST model that I like the look of:

Conti Rubber Queens are nice, especially in the Black Chili compound. Not particularly fast rolling though.

When you say wet, what surface are you riding on? Rock? Grass? Mud? Gravel? A mixture? The reason that I ask is that the soft compound "StickE" Nevegals are a very good tyre and grip on most things, but they do clog in mud.

Personally I run Panaracer Rampage SC (soft compound) for three seasons and Bontrager Mud-X for the shite at the moment. The Rampage grips on most things wet or dry except mud, and if you look at a picture of the tread pattern you'll see something familiar about it. The MudX is a fantastic all-rounder which, as it's name suggests, shifts mud very well indeed, and copes very well with damp roots (a mixture of tread block layout and the compound I think) so does a very good job. I would stress that my experience is pretty much all gravel, chalk, forest loam, grass, mud etc. as opposed to rock/slate although the Rampages did very well in Wales.

I run Bonty Mud-X for the winter here... Brilliant...

I've just sold a pair of Nobby Nics for a very low price lol... too late... they came on my Bionicon but i don't like them

    So i went for

    Continental Mountain King Wired Tyre / 26er / Black / 2.2 Inch £9.99

Very cheap and good write ups...

Its a mixture of wet mud, roots, gravel, rock etc. I actually haven't found the Nevegals to be too bad collecting mud, but I have the UST ones and notice that there aren't Stick-E. What i have found is that the profile of the Nevegals is quite flat and boxy and maybe I want something rounder.

I'll pass to someone with superior knowledge such as Rockjock then as that sounds like typical Nevegal territory. It may well be that they are just some teflon-based compound. There are so many versions of them and some of them are shockingly hard and slippery (especially those supplied as OEM stuff on some of the cheaper bikes).

Mud X for the mud and Rocket Rons for the rest of the year - neither are cheap but they are worth it as far as i am concerned
