Default New year, new resolutions... new RACE.... lets do it... Gorrick 17th Feb

    Spring Series Races

So i keep threatening to get back and try again at this XC racing lark and once again i'm read to throw myself in there and have a pop.

So, Crosshair and myself are entering the 'fun' catagory on the 17th. 2 laps.

I believe this is where i did my first 3 lap event a while back... pretty good course with a steep short climb in there and a longer piece of fireroad, but mostly nice singletrack stuff

I'm setting myself an ideal goal of finishing inside the top 50%... I don't know yet how optimistic that is....

Going to try a slightly different plan from the start on this, usually i take it a little easy, lining up at the back of the grid, let a few people go, get some space and settle in. However i recall this has a terrible bottleneck early on (150m from start line) which is into the singletrack. So going to try and blast out as my recovery times are good so should be able to settle down by the time we get through it.

    training is going really well.

I was looking forward to this...............
    ..........until our ride yesterday

I'm busy all day and eating out every evening bar one for the next 6 days so if anyone has got any 'ten day get fit quick' schemes then please send me a link

Excuses aside, my predictions are that I'm going to get my arse spanked by all and sundry. I'm a lot less fit than my last Gorrick where I finished top 1/3.

If I can have some fun, have a good battle or two and exhibit some of my power up the hills, then I'll be well pleased

All assuming baby Freddie doesn't pop out early and put a spanner in the works !!!!!!!
