    Default 27/28th September Devon dives

If people are interested I'll put something together.

Cost - let's keep it low, I have two spare rooms and a decent sized sofa, so kip at mine and you can experience the delights of the local 'ye olde cider bar' in the evening too.

I won't book a boat, rather if people are interested, then I'll book us on whatever else is going out those days - there's enough going on within driving distance to make that feasable.

Cost then, I'd guess at about £20 to £25 per dive plus fills and whatever you want to spend on beer and cider.

Travel - the local airport is 15 or so miles away and is served by FlyBe (who may or may not lose your bags), we have a mainline train station, and we're just off the end of the M5. If anyone is flying and wants to stay on the Sunday night as well, then no worries - I have to pass exeter airport on the way to work anyway, so I can drop you off.

Let me know and I'll get it sorted.

Numbers wise, I can probably accomodate about 6 maximum.

Fantastic news hon, I bet you are pleased about that!!

Stu, I'm toying with it at the moment, airfare is cheap enough, however there is a chance I'll be diving at the farnes the same weekend, I'll let you know in a week or two.

Righto, don't know if there's any interest in this. If so, my local dive club are doing the following that weekend:-

    Saturday
Galicia - WW1 ship hit a mine off Teignmouth in 1917. Very broken up, 20m
Watcombe Caves - underwater caves in the cliff. I've dived the caves but never penetrated them. I don't think many of them are that 'deep' but rumour has it that some are. Probably 15m max. Last time I was there you couldn't see the sea floor for spider crabs
Hillsea point - Reef dive from Plymouth. About 20 metres
HMS Scylla - The frigate deliberately sunk for the aquarium. The wreck that I know and love with something always going wrong.
Mewstone - the big lump of rock just out from the old naval gunnery range, so the area is littered with old cannon balls and what have you

    Sunday
Bretagne - 30 metre wreck dive. IIRC the Bretagne was accidentally rammed in heavy fog by another vessel in about 1916.
Orestone - drift dive sometimes good for scallops.
James Egan Layne (JEL) - a WW2 liberty ship just off Plymouth. From memory she was torpedoed and sank just outside Plymouth harbour. Stunning wreck with the bows in about 6m and the stern in about 30m
Fairylands - reef dive from Plymouth, don't know much about it, but it's at about 15m.

I can probably suggest some shore diving as well if anyone wants to come but is really keen to keep the cost down.

Rightyo then, as there seems to be little interest, I'm going to service my bike and do some gardening instead.

    Dull, but there you go...
