Its nowt like finished but there's a few pictures of a CR500 chassis with a Zabel in there as well.

Cheers, I'm not sure it will make that fast a bike as some of the tuners on that forum have made some big bore KXs and not found them as revvy but it should sure be good for rattling fillings and pulling stumps.

I used to help build 700 Zabel motors when my mate was sidecar-crossing. Decent torque, but probably no more than about 70-75 bhp from a good'un. Early ones were bored and stroked KTM lumps, later ones shared less parts.

In fact, now that I remember, I also ported a bit of software for expansion-chamber design from BBC basic to ....ermmm....summat else which I forget for 700 motors.

T'was way quicker than the 930 Norton he used to run and didn't crack frames.

The newer ones are Maico based but even they have some KTM parts as apparently KTM owned Maico at some point.

Shows the size when they need a twin plug head to get the flame path right.

I saw a 685 Maico at Barbon hillclimb today, the bloke made it up from a 380 chassis (as its the same as the newer bigger models) and put the 685 mill in there.

Aluminium tank and some trick bits to complete the effect.

Unfortunately it wasn't racing yesterday More of on display for his company I suppose.

The bloke said he had only ran it for half an hour and there were a few little niggles like the fuel tap wouldn't flow enough fuel (No comments) so he was considering a Pingel one.

He did say that it was bloody fast though.

Thumbs up Re: Husaberg 550 + 700cc Zabel twostroke engine.

Related to the above, just noticed this recent announcement by Maico which I hope comes to fruition

British made Maico linked to F.1. engineering company as all new engine line-up is announced for 2011.

Catching the imagination of the global motocross community earlier this year with the release of the 2010 Maico M.M.X., manufacturers, Maico International are believed to be on course to produce the first British made motocrosser for over a decade with the 2011 model, which features a new U.K manufactured engine and frame following a unique tie up with a leading engineering manufacturer for F.1.

Spending the last six months focussing on major development and working closely with the managing director of the Surrey based company who engineer and manufacture gears and various other exotic mechanical parts for many of the front running Formula One teams, Maico International will be unleashing a range of 5 new two stroke engines in, 250cc, 320cc, 380cc, 500cc and 700cc capacity, all manufactured to the highest standard along with an equally comprehensive range of high end optional upgrades which have been designed to outstrip the competition in terms of power, performance, durability and reliability.

The rest of the release is available at British made Maico linked to F.1. engineering company as new engines announced.

A new 700cc two stroke, I can only dream.
