    Default Mesh jackets

I sweltered yesterday coming back from Brum so as the weather is set to last at least the weekend I've rushed out and got myself a summer vented jacket

Spada Textile Jacket Air Pro Black - Feridax.com

Anyway it got Ride's best buy triangle for month in a test of similar jacket - must say HD do a decent version but at £300 ....

So have I jinxed it now?

Soapy Tenner on the "comfortable quilted liing" being made of flippin nylon. Why the hell clothing manufacturers can't see what is staring them in the face and start lining summer clothing with cotton or wickable material is beyone me, and them as well by the look of it.

A revelation? But would you have a liner in when its hot so does it actually matter?

Hope you have a rain suit, they are shit in downpours. Otherwise you have to find a bridge or a big tree.

No, I'd take the liner out, but guess what fabric is lining the actual jacket, yep, nylon. That way you get to wear a nice T shirt under your de-linered jacket with the added bonus of being stuck to it when it warms up.

Correct. Another glaringly obvious oversight, why make what is essentially aimed at hot weather use, in black? the colour that is most likely to actually increase the discomfort of anyone wearing it in the sun. Idiots.

I speak from experience. However for continental touring I found a lightweight mesh two piece and a rainsuit made a really good combination. I very rarely wear the mesh suit in this country as the weather isn't often hot enough like it is today. and I don't like sitting under trees with Harley Riders, as happened at Cheddar once!

Oooh Look at her you having a caffeine crash?

I've barely worn anything but a mesh jacket for the last 3yrs. Didn't like mesh jackets at first as they seemed to give the same protection as tissue paper but stumbled accross a HG branded one in one of their sales, that wasn't as meshy and light as some but had nice thick leather in all the places you want (physically quite heavy too). It can get a little hot when stationary on the bike, but when you're moving it it really is the 'sliced bread' of biking jackets - goretex bike jackets don't come close. Keep a compact waterproof jacket to hand for summer showers (fair enough, I do get caught out & wet in sudden downpours) and riding home on chillier evenings. Winter time I just keep the waterproof lightweight jacket on over the mesh and I'm never cold - nor paying silly money for gore-tex bike jackets that when wet stay wet for days, or that leak after 18mths. I can live with the black

DS. I bought exactly the same as you but three years ago. I wore it yesterday for my trip to Yorkshire. Glad I did.

It's been fine with almost zero wear and tear. I like the idea that you can unzip the sleeves to let the air in. I learned to keep something warm with me such as a thermal vest for return journeys when the sun goes down. It get colds on them there hills when the sun falls from the sky.

I buy lots of things from the USA and am waiting for some parts at present - trouble is sometimes you do end up paying more cos of the import tax and postage and when you're talking about that suit you have its not that much here, specially compared to a stich. I've just not convinced myself yet that I need more than the current 12 odd jackets that I currently use!!
