Default Owners of bikes with the Triumph 995i lump and the off road map.

Did you bike use more fuel with the off road map? Mine us currently using the off road map with a stock can and despite going one up on the front and 4 down on the rear, I'm still only getting 45mpg, which in my eyes is not sustainable no matter how awesome the bike is in every other respect.

Have you changed the airfilter? I had a BMC airfilter, straight through race pipe and the latest TOR tune for my 2002 955i lump, managed to clear 54mpg on open motorways with no issues. Gave a constant 40-43mpg in town riding.

Brand new air filter, fuel filter, oil, chain, sprox, fork oil, the lot. Maybe I need to eat less pies.

I'm 18.5 stone (more like 120kgs now... ), and the bike returned that mileage

Yay! Pie reduction off the list then. Now what? It's got the aerodynamics of an upright Volvo 240, maybe it's that.

Thanks, that makes me feel like a fat bastard... May well be the case of just how the bike goes. My Sprint was great on fuel for what it was, a sports tourer. Yours is heavier and more upright, the engines may have different tune for torque etc.

It might be worth having a trip to a decent Dyno operator to see if your bike is running too rich.

TWPD used to get 50+ mpg even when hammering his Sprint RS and while he had a typical racer build, he also used to ride it like he'd stole it so can't see weight difference making that much difference unless you are also canning it every where.

Before I figured out TuneECU, I took my 955i to Raffertys' in Fareham to have the map changed. They put the wrong one on it and it was actually thirstier than 30mpg which is really horrible.

Didn't you have this bike tuned by X-bikes once upon a time?

Why are you using an off road map on the stock exhaust? The off road map cleans up the lean mid range yes, but it's also tuned for the horrible noisy race cans Triumph offer, so it'll be too rich all round I would think.

I don't know what they did on the sprint but the engines seem to be far less juicy than the other 955i bikes.

It never went on the dyno, might be on the cards now though. I sold the off road can when I was about to PX the Tiger for an NC700, then changed my mind. 5 minute job to put the stock map back on though, I'll do that tomorrow.

Just chatted to the fellows at TriMoto and you are getting the expected MPG from the 955 Tiger. As good as it gets really, you might get 50mpg on a good run. They said one of their mechanics was getting circa 70mpg from his Daytona 1200, but it was doing 70mph at 2000rpm. Trundling along.

Mine will need filling up tonight/Friday and I will check the fuel economy, I am running a standard Triumph map and Blue Flame can with no baffles.

I rode fairly sensibly for the 70 odd miles to the office, but rode a little twattish on the way back.

No problem at all. I was dropping by there anyhow and it made sense to check with the guys who work on them for a living. Les and Jason are top fella's. Glad I could help.
