1993 (K) Yamaha TZR250 Racing Sport Dry Clutch Red/Whte | eBay
Its a thing of beauty and the next best thing to a TZ250D which I always wanted as my next race bike but couldn't afford (and still can't).

yes i'd buy that !
cracking looking bikes trouble is 6" 2 tall so maybe a tight fit
That's nice. Not seven grand nice though, just seems too much for what's there.
Nope.
I'd buy a 1098
I'd be tempted for six, seven's a bit salty.... but if it was a real minter....maybe.
I can't see them doing anything other than going up in value too.
My mate Josh had one a good few years back and it was a cracking ride although they'd softened the engine massively as standard and it was never reliable when he tried to tune it.
I would although I'm no longer the streak of piss I was back in the late 80s so maybe it wouldn't give the same enjoyment.![]()
Apples and pears though.
Different machines altogether.
I could have bought an absolute mint 3XV for 3.5k a few years back, less than 1,000 miles on the clock.
Although having said that I wonder how long it would be a novelty for and how long it would take until Mrs Iccy is complaining its taking up too much room and I never ride it anyway, etc.
If I had TZ250D money (12k+ at least for a nice one) I'd probably start looking for an RC45 and save a bit more.
Now I'm back to being poor I can dream again, a few years ago I could have bought an RC45 just out of one of my bonus's, but when I had the cash the urge to buy wasn't that strong (or even non-existant).
Maybe its better just to keep these things as dreams?
nope, mostly cos its a 2 stroke grenade, and much as I enjoy working on engines it gets tiresome doing the same one over and over again.
IME I really haven't come across this 2-stroke unreliability thing.
Of course peds owned by 17yr old numpties will have been bodged but a decent two stroke is as reliable as a reliable thing.
I've raced them for years and still do and I lose a lot less sleep over my two stroke race bike than my four stroke one.
My only concern with something like a 20yr old TZ250 would be having my pants pulled down over spare parts when I needed to throw pistons or a crank at it.
Nope I'd buy the TZR RC, but if I had silly money and loads of garage space I'd be tempted.
Its not so much a reliability thing, (altho everyone I've ever known with a 2 stroke bike has had grief with it, including the non L platers), they wear out stupidly fast. You're already assuming it will need major engine work at some point in the near future, which certainly wouldn't be in my expectations for a four stroke bike unless it was a drag bike or a teetering on the edge ex factory or 1 season tuned IL4.
It sure is Purdy, but no.
I'd like a Tyga bodied well sorted RGV with a paint job but it wouldn't hold its value.

A mate of mine bought one (TZR250) last year for about 4k. I took it out for a thrash, it was great fun![]()
