Motorcycle taken from crash death scene in Stourport

A motorcycle was taken from the scene of a fatal crash in Worcestershire, police said.
Emergency services were called to Bewdley Road, Stourport-on-Severn, on Wednesday evening where a motorcyclist died at the scene.
West Mercia police said the red and black motorbike had been removed before they arrived and had not been found.
A spokesman said a lot of people had been at the scene and urged anyone who saw it being taken to get in touch.
Ambulance staff said bystanders had carried out CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) on the man who was in cardiac arrest.
'Lost control'The accident took place at 18:38 BST by the Brinton Arms pub.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s from Stourport, lost control on the bend and hit the kerb, police said.
PC Gary Otun said the rider's helmet had also been taken but later found nearby.
"Within minutes of this incident there were a lot of people on the scene, including people who had been inside the pub.
"I would urge them to come forward if they saw the bike being removed or anything else that could help our inquiries," he said.

Why is it worse stealing a motorcycle from the scene of a fatal RTA than just plain stealing a motorcycle?

It may be argued it's a lesser crime since the rider won't be concerned about the loss.

Maybe you should sit down and think about it for a while.

I would have thought the police need the bike for inspection.

Or perhaps it would have been nice to take measurements from point of impact to place of rest to try and determine exactly how the poor guy lost his life.

Still, no real harm done eh VH.

There's a chance they were first on the scene, and took the bike, rather that try to save his life.

when I hit that poor chap on his shiny R1 his mates turned up before the police & had his now bent bike off the road & into their van & away. The police as keen to find out where that had gone as they were breatherlysing & interviewing me. I'm not quite sure if they were worried about the condition of the chap who was riding the bike (he'd gone with them after swapping details with me & taking pictures) or they were wondering about the legitimacy of the bike. I might also add that the bike had aftermarket suspension & a lot of bling. It certainly wasn't standard. So maybe, just maybe..

Otherwise that was a well nasty thing to do & a great deal of front to have had it away with a lot of people looking on.

Same thing happened at a SI RTC in Bristol with a Qwacker a couple of weeks ago. The thief pretended to be helping at the scene and made off with the bike. Close enough to Worcester toi be the same gang. I wonder if they are listening to Police/ambulance transmissions.

It seems at first sight like an incredibly callous thing to do but other than the emotional side I'm struggling to see why it is actually worse than stealing a bike from your garage.

You're right. He's dead anyway so he doesn't need it any more. May as well take his wallet and jewellery whilst we're at it. I wonder what size his feet are, cos his boots look very new.

Come on TC, it's WAY worse and you know it.

One simple reason why it is worse.... the police accident investigation unit need the bike to check if the death was due to mechanical failure or just rider error which of course would answer a lot of questions his/her next of kin would have, simple really.... they are utter scum and i hope they rot in hell.

... Or maybe it was taken by his mates who knew he was on a stolen bike, or one he'd modified enough to void his insurance?

That's much les far-fetched than a roving gang of bike theives in the area listeing out for motorcycle RTA's.

Either way I hope it's not one of my mates...
