Did you have a Fizzy (FS1e)

When i was 16 the moped of choice was a Fizzy (Yamaha FS1e). I had a 1973 version in gold. I fitted a spanny to it but still never got past 60mph downhill. 55 was the normal top speed though. Mate had a AP50 which was a bit quicker but no one liked them, well we had Fizzys didn't we!

Quickest of the lot was my mates Fantic Caballero which nudged past 65mph, or 70mph the other night if you believed him. I had a Malagutti thing that looked like a Caballero but it died shortly after buying it. So what ped did you have?

Me and a mate shared a patched up FS1e as a field bike, great fun, but I preferred my red AP50 (except when it rained)

I had an AR50.

It was standard and only did 35mph.

Of course. I rode it to see the Sex Pistols at the 100 club when it was new and it was STILL going stromg when I rode it to the RV before getting kitted up to storm the Iranian Embassy a few years later

The only fizzers you see these days seem to be highly polished examples owned by fat old blokes.

The mythical 55mph FS1E, I don't remember them ever going over 45 except in the imaginations of teenage owners.

Never owned a Fizzy but I rode one, once. I also tried to pedal it out of curiosity, was virtually impossible.

i stripped mine down and hand painted the frame in some bronzey colored hammerite which looks really shit but i thought it was
ace at the time (was 19 then) i put a YB100 engine in whice was very nearly a straight swap, fresco expansion and ace handlebars.
i tried to do a lawson marborogh white and orange paint job on it which looked good/shit depending on how far away you were
and it only had 1 wire which was from the mag to the ignition coil.

i used to ride it from hemel to harpendon a couple of times a week but on the last time i got followed and eventually
pulled over by a bike cop, i came clean straight away about not having lisence and insurance or anything else and he sat on the bike
trying to make the lights work which started me off laughing lol, went to court of that got a ban and other stuff.

fastest 50 i had was my suzi ER50 it had malossi 75 kit, delorto carb, gianelli expansion and would go off the speedo on the straight.
never got it to tickover though so had to keep blipping it at lights and stuff

I know, I know... poor show. From memory I could only just afford the bike (600 quid IIRC) and was completely skint so another hundred plus on an exhaust or big bore kit never happened. Plus my dad was adamant it would invalidate my insurance and then the sky would fall.

In mitigation by the time I was 17 I had a part time job and bought a fucked Aprilia 125 which did 100mph.

Pre 77 ones did? Never knew one that wouldn't go over 50mph downhill? We used to grind the ports and polish them and the head too! Didn't have a clue what we were doing though.It was all tips from "They say if you do this" tuning!
