I want a Trail bike - where should I look? Got about £1700 to spare and am looking for (preferably) a 600cc+ trail bike. Looked on ebay and am watching a couple of auctions but very little else seems available. Anyone know of any good shops or dealers that specialise in 2nd hand trailies?

There's a tidy Transalp and a lovely twin headlight XT600.

If you're short and never ride on Motorways, they're brilliant.

Re: I want a Trail bike - where should I look? The KLR's are quite well thought off in N America. Imho you can't go wrong with an old school XT600. Try giving David Lambeth engineering a shout as he deals with a lot of big trailies (overland prepping etc) and might be able to flog you a good one, or point you in the right direction.

Re: I want a Trail bike - where should I look? It's wouldn't just be for green laning. I need a second vehicle for a number of reasons and I haven't had a trail bike for many may years. Don't do that many biking miles annually any more so would prefer a bike I want to ride as opposed to one I got because it was 'sensible'.

Re: I want a Trail bike - where should I look? The DRZ400 will crack a ton so it isn't slow. You don't really need loads of power on that sort of bike unless you're gonna mess around popping wheelies all over the place. A 600 will be lumpy, probably fairly old and less capable off road. You'll get a pretty good DRZ for that money.
Fern has just ridden to Nepal on hers so they're serious dualsport.
