Why am I not hearing about and this applies to general bike forums on your side and my side of the pond, these world conquering superbikes and why after watching Philip Island do the commentators/cammera man do the same thing as last year and allways comment and mention the name BMW when the fecking bike is in 3rd place?

Call me paranoid but I don't own either a Kraut bike or an Aprilia and it just seems blatant partisan money under the table that this has gone on for so long. The Aprilia has proven its the best WSB out there no matter who is riding it but the commentars since even before last year seem to be payed by how many times they say BMW..which over here means Bring My Wallet/Bring More Wonga...or just NO not another Service!

Well when you work late at night and then don't get up till noon, 03:00 is like lunch time. Maybe you should try it? And if the point isn't blatant maybe you should get a brick in the head to wake u up?

I did on the feed I got from Phillip Island and last year and the year before. Constantly mention of BMW even when Corser was the test monkey on them. Feck all for results and yet those bikes were constantly mentioned before during and even after Aprilia or even Ducati spanked them silly. Like I said, I own neither of the brands so i consider myself fairly objective but for a I think, a non first place finisher, BMW is getting way more Press than is deserved. Therefore, I have to believe theres a whole lot of Payola goin on that we, the general public are not aware of.

Example, the guy on a Privateer old school GSXR did extremely well in both those races at Phillip Isl. I think I may have heard Suzuki and his name mentioned 3 times. Gimmme a fecking break! I THINK this rookie did his first laps around that track this wknd. Does he get mentioned a quarter of the time BMW is shouted out? Of course not. BMW is paying people off and its obvious.

Dunno I watched it on Eurosport and commentators made a big point of the prilla's 1,2,3 result in race 1 and how good the bike was?? Don't remember any BMW love in particular?

Now you've mentioned it, I'll probably notice, but up until now I've not picked up on the beemers being mentioned more than the 'prillas.

In fact I specifically remember them mentioning on a number of occasions how many 'prillas were in the top 5 etc...

Last year for example, I know its a small market area but BMW was the prime sponsor of the Canadian Superbike Series. I'm not current but out of 8 meets BMW won 7 of them and I don't know the results of the last race cos I don't usually follow it.

Not bad for a company with what I call a sub standard bike if you buy one and don't purchase the just about everything that is an option on it. Hell if BMW had their way they'd make clutch and brake levers an option. They are doing good sales wise for a company that raped Husqvarna and puts out bikes that are called what is it, 800s but are named 650s??

Plus on this side of the pond I have heard horror stories about previous models surging and "they all do it, so its normal" replies.'

To me, Apriia is still a shot in the dark but I do know 2 people who've had the V-twin Tuonos and there hasn't been a problem.
Rumours are around about the first and second year Vfours though.

Anyway, original point was that I think BMW is paying money to broadcasters to have their particular race bikes mentioned during a race way more than Joe Blow on his privateer Sucksuki who is out ridng everyone on an old school bike . Wish I could remember this guys name.

Been a while since I read a UK bike mag superbike group test, but last I heard the S1000RR was the top dog in the 1000cc class, not sure how that equates to a 'sub standard bike'?

I thought the commentators were full of praise for the RSVs and Panagale tbh....don't recall it being all "bmw this...bmw that...bmw are the muts nuts" from them.

Might notice it now you've mentioned it, will see what happens at the next round.

Dunno about on your side but here you basically get dick if you don't order the options on the bike. Sort of like cars here. Oh, you want the sunroof? That means you also have to get the traction control. No sorry, you cant order them separately.

Thats the kind of shit I've been hearing bout BMW. Every test I've read is that the BMW supplied to the Mags is fully equiped with every god damn option you can get. I'd have to check to make sure but I think Motorcyclist magazine had one valued at around $22,000 Plus PDI Doc fees and all state applicable taxes.

I think the Kawi was around $16000 with every option. Of course they rated the BMW as number one yet the same mag the year before rated the Kwak as number 1 and there didn't seem to be ANY differences in bikes.

Same Mag, sport touring test/comparison. They absolutely slagged the FJR1300 cos it hadn't made enough "improvements" yet it won in their own mag as best sport touring bike for 2 consecutive years. The 1400 GTR, also a former 2 year winner was beat out by the BMW 1600. Well I guess it should beat it. It's only $8000 American more expensive to buy LOL!

But no, the Testers try to play down the $8000 difference in price. Give me a fucking break. Not so many years ago the Mags over here constantly slagged BMWS cos they were different...........and they did little advertising. Now they have become the media darling cos they throw lavish press intros and rides. btw a retired friend who was a partner in a Yam/BMW dealership described some of these Dealer and Press junkets so I do know what I'm talking about. Trips to the Alps for 10 days were not uncommon.

You actually think a company as arrogant and big as BMW is not above shoving coin/trips etc to get their name mentioned more often and if you actually believe their name isn't getting mentioned more than the top finishers in racing well I guess you are a bunch of Neville Chamberlains.

Just pay attention to the wording next time you watch WSB cos I guarnatee you will hear BMW even if they all crash. Whats this now, 4 years and they havn't got a first place? Why are the press even mentioning them

If all septic mags are like that then no wonder you're disappointed with the inconsistency.

The British bike mags are always full of the same old shite, but they're still a million times better than the yank crap.

(sorry if I'm grouping Septic rags with Canuck ones).
