Memorial Meet 2012 Camping weekend

Weekend dates: 4,5,6 May 2012 (2 nights)


For the camping weekend I will be asking for the same recompense as last year : £15 per person. (please PM me for payment details).
This will cover the campsite booking, and the hire of the portaloo.

We have the campsite for the Friday & Saturday nights, so obviously if you stay for both nights you're getting better value for your money.

I will be accepting payments by Direct Bank Transfer, paypal or cheque (please pm me for the secure details).


These are the details from previous years, and I would assume they are the same (I will double check).

(in no particular order)
TOILET/SHOWER: There is a shower/toilet block as part of the main building, which will be shut overnight unfortunately (ie from when the bar closes to then they open for breakfast - around 8pm). There will be a portaloo or similar to provide facilities overnight.

DOGS: This has already been mentioned in the thread - but I'm putting it here too: ALL DOGS MUST BE CONTROLLED AT ALL TIMES. The reason being that the farm has 3 donkeys, and they've already had trouble with dogs not being under control. They are perfectly happy to have dogs around, provided they are controlled properly. So please bear that in mind.

FIRE: Unfortunately the farm does not provide firewood - we have to bring our own - volunteers please? (or we can just trim their hedges again..... )

PARKING: There's plenty for all - if you feel the need to keep your bike close by in the field that's fine - but please can we refrain from hooning about on the field - it's a reasonable request.

LEAVING/TIDYING: The Farm has a couple of huge bins for rubbish, so please tidy up any mess you make before leaving - preferably in black bins liners. (they're not too fussed about when we leave on Sunday - and apparantly they do a good roast for lunch... )

FOOD/DRINK: The farm has a full bar and restaurant on site, serving all meals at appropriate times:
... Breakfast:8:30 - 10:30 (ish) (full english - I have been assured of the presence of a good black pudding)
... Lunch 12:00 - 3ish - full meals, inc vegetarian
... Dinner 7:30 - closing (ish) - as above - the landlady will put together a menu for our weekend.
(ie - reasonable hours).

SELF CATERING: If you feel the need to sustain yourself that's fine - but please be careful of causing fires in the field (ie no chucking BBQ coals in the hedge etc). I'm sure that anyone cooking their own stuff will be perfectly capable of doing so safely.... (crosses fingers).

B&Bs for non campers: There's a Premier Inn just opened recently nearby ( 0870 1112828 ), and a B&B called "Moss Cottage" too (number to follow).

I have checked and although there are no electrical hookups or drain stands etc, Tintents and caravans should be acceptable (bear in mind though that the field we camp in is not level.

I have booked the location and date already: Lumb Farm, Derbyshire, they looked after us well in 2010 and again in 2011, and I think the place suits us reasonably well. I may look elsewhere for next year, but while Angela looks after us as well as she does, I'm happy to use Lumb Farm and help keep them going.
The date is effectively the same as last year too (first May Bank Holiday), The Monday following is a Bank Holiday.

As per always, everyone is welcome and will be welcomed.

So - pencil the date in your diary and I hope to see as many as can make it up there!

Good man, I'm in and looking forward to it. You've got your sums right this year I take it and the £15 will be enough?

Just to add a couple of points to what RB has said.

Dogs, it is worth pointing out that dogs arent generally allowed in the pub, only on the campsite. Not a problem on the Saturday, but last year we had an evening in the pub on Friday.

Also for a bog standard pub the food is very good, breakfast is excellent, just dont have the tomatoes.

will check the calendar this weekend, be good to actually make it to one of these.

Not for you - you set your own bar with the Innovaload and now we expect better

If all goes to plan then this year it will be me and both my little girls (13 + 7) plus the dog, which means I need either a bigger tent or will have to dig out an old canvas framed jobbie or an equally as old nylon ridge tent.
