Not exactly what you're after but may float your MX boat..

I have a CR125 1984(i think, I will check) eligible for the EVO class, in need of restoration. Comes with a brand new set of plastics (cost £250 IIRC)

Located in Launceston, not going anywhere fast (I'm working away again) PM me if you'd like to know more

Thanks mate, but I'm having a rest from MX.
I fancy a two stroke screamer from the late 80's/early 90's, something like a valve or a TZR.
I'll make it look nice and use it a few times a year on the track.

I've had my eye on that waiting for pics.
But it looks like it sold before I got round to checking it.

Yeah sorry, didn't see the last post.
The models you have mentioned are all fetching a fair price nowadays.Even boxes of shit can be a bit overpriced.
I know a few people and will ask around.

I'm not in any rush and I won't pay mega bucks either.
These 6.5k TZR250's must be selling somewhere, but I won't pay that sort of money.
I've seen some RGV's going for around the 2k mark and a TZR went on ebay for a grand the other day.
The right bike will come along.

The trouble is these bikes are mostly owned by enthusiasts nowadays, and they always want a high price.
If everyone believes they're worth silly money then everyone advertises them at silly money and they become worth silly money.

As a matter of interest what *should* the going rate for a sorted but not gold plated TZR race bike be?

Looks like they're going for about £2k.
I've seen 3 for sale since Xmas, all between £1700-2000, but with things being up in the air at work I'm holding onto my money until I know if I'm being made redundant.
Hopefully we'll be told who is going and who is staying by the end of the month.

Anything from £1500-£2500 depending on tune and pipes. YPM spec ones will fetch more.

I grabbed a road bike a couple of years ago when I saw the prices starting to take a hike. I got a standard 2MA for £780 in good tidy condition, even without restoring it, it will fetch over twice that now.

With hindsight, Aprillia RS250's, KR1S's and RGV's were going for around a £1000 a couple fo years ago - ho hum.
The days of the cheap stroker are long gone.

As Wobbly says, I'll keep a look out - I know a few people into 2 strokes.

I remember Aprillia RS250's fetching £1800, only a couple of years ago.
I was amazed to see them going for 5k now.
