Just finished my first season doin short circuits and was looking about at a few race schools to try and get the pace up a bit. When I'm looking about a lot of people say they're just the same as track days and you won't really pick up a lot for your money.

Anybody on here done any , if you have what you think and did it make you any quicker? Was looking at haslems, nail mckenzie and California super bike school.

    Cheers

P.s is there any round n.ireland or mondello?

They will all say they will improve your riding, but they would say that wouldn't they, they want your money IME if you've done a couple of seasons of racing you've learned more than they will ever teach you.

The time racing schools can help is before taking up racing, especially nervous riders or those who've never done much in the way of trackdays - though TBH how many of those race anyway? When I started there was no such thing as trackdays, so doing a couple of racing schools was the only way to get a taste of the track and decide whether it's for you or not. There wasn't much in the way of tuition then, it was go and do it and the instructor gave you some feedback having followed you for a few laps with one hand on the bars... The schools today will say they can teach you skills and techniques to help you go faster but frankly you'll go a lot faster practising braking a bit later and leaning a bit further.

Jim Whit's track training might be worth a look.

Or with all those race wins you could always follow one of the ex racers on here round for the day.

Think you would be better off with 1to 1 training from a qualified coach-like spike Edwards-not cheap mind but always seems to have rave write ups on tdr forum with people who have used him.

Is the correct answer IMO. If you've done a season already then chances are you're going to be a few rungs up the ladder. All of the schools that do group based training will want you to start at the bottom of the ladder.

Mike Spike Edwards is very good http://www.mike-edwards.net/ (not so good at designing easy on the eye websites though!)

Mike Dickenson is also good. Can't find his website though but pretty sure he's on Facebook.

Nemomoto on Trackdayriders.co.uk is also reputed to be very good.

Another possibility is to spend the dosh on a 3 or 4 day European event with some of the big name riders as instructors - grab one of them for a session per day...

Jim Whits is 1:1. Ish. I'm guessing you do alternate sessions with instructor, then solo to prictice what you leared.
    At 195 it's a good compromise.

Yes, I can say it is 100% important skills even if you aren't going to build up a racing career. You will learn many useful skills that will help you in your everyday riding experience. I attended Superbike School Ltd, it is worth the money wasted!
