Well, go on. I'm in no rush.

Also, I have a '99 low mileage but a little scruffy (no crash damage) SV650 to offer in part-ex.

A 1998-1999 Fireblade, a grand might not get you the best example, but it's possible.

The press at the time called them the touring Blade (because the R1 came out that year and blew it away performance wise).

I'd not be too fussy on the model and go for the best example you can find for the money.

Or a 929 Blade, they always seemed cheap for what they were. Dunno if you'd get a decent one for a grand though.

I'm looking at ZZR600s again. Would be my fourth lol, under a grand, 50k-ish miles.

Headlight on all the time when engine running? Never heard that one before.

You can have my CBR600 (2001 F4i) for five hundred quid. It's got MX bars and a raised screen so brill for touring. It's got 60K miles, short MOT, is very tatty and is presently covered in threadbare green fur. I fired it up on Monday lunchtime after a 5 month layup and it fired up on the 3rd revolution and ran cleanly up and down the lane.

Is due for fresh oil, valve clearance and manual CCT check. I think one of the fork seals is a bit weepy too, although it wasn't noted on the last MOT (when I checked it).

I am currently trying to whore this bike out to anyone who asks as it will save me the effort of cleaning and servicing it for a "proper" sale.

You'd be lucky to get a decent one for 2k, personally for that money, have a look for a ZX9r, you may be lucky and get a C2, their forum is a useful place to look for sales too.

It is an easy fix in a day, and a known fault, all over the web detailed instructions on how to fix.

Sprint 955 would be the best answer.

I have the 1999 carbed one on 60k too. It's stupidly real world capable & those mandlebars I'd love. Poss some cheapo lower rearsets too. But make no mistake it's a quality ride-sure it's bloody telepathic. Mine starts up on the button everytime too. I keep thinking I want a litre class, but I don't really. Engine is flexible enough to run it around town in top too. Even a little bit of midrange & I'm pretty sure that goes for the F4i. IIRC that era were the last of the all rounder CBR6s, before everyone got focused on making road bikes behave like track dayers. Don't get me wrong there-you can take some pretty big overtaking, cornering & braking liberties with it & 120 on it feels like 60.

500 notes that's pretty damned good too. Put it this way-if I was in the market I'd be going with Ax's with a monkey tonight.

what you need is a nice fazer 1000.
mechanically very sound, a little rough cosmetically but a bloody fine bike
    ask Weeksy/CC how it goes.
    never been thrashed................
