Re: Bike shed show
I'll definitely be there - it was a great day out last year. Just don't know when.
I keep meaning to go to their cafe. But never quite make it. Like many others, I hear. Shame.

Tempting, but their website really does put me off in some/many ways.
It reads to me basically like "this is a fashion show and the place to meet for a beard trim"
Whereas i want it to be "this is the place to talk rubbish and look at amazing bikes"
I'm not sure...

It's a custom bike exhibition, it just happens to have some hipster elements like Barbers and boutique jackets stands, but it's still about bikes and the related retro scene. It's fairly small as bike shows go and if you have no real interest in that scene you may feel a bit 'meh' by it all.
I missed it last year so will probably try and get there, not sure why they're not doing individual day tickets anymore.

It was 15 quid for a weekend ticket last year iirc with no option of a day ticket. I think the weekend pass thing is prolly a bonus for local club members who want to make a weekend of it.
I don't know how much it was the year before because I genuinely accidentally wandered in off the street w/o a ticket after a steward opened the main gate and ushered me in. Probably they were expecting a guest appearance from Gandalf.

I thought it was pretty naff last year - certainly wouldn't bother again and yes, almost everyone appeared to have a beard waiting for a trim...

Re: Bike shed show
Just to clarify, I'm going for the bikes rather than weeksys homo- erotic fantasy. Pretty girls are also available.
You can get a haircut at the show, but I haven't had one since 1994 so sadly I'll have to pass on that. Plus you can smoke at their cigar bar but I'm not much into those either.
Plenty of bikes to look at, beer to quaff, and a decent outside area to shoot the shit on.

I'm hoping to go, mainly to fulfill my homo erotic fantasies
and see a few tasty bikes.

Re: Bike shed show
I don't remember any pretty girls
But there were significantly fewer beardy types and a lot of people entertainingly waxing lyrical about their pride and joy.

Not sure yet I'm at a gig tonight so could end up too pissed to do much sat.
Do you know if there is bike parking nearby ?

Re: Bike shed show
There's a multi story across the road, I saw plenty of bikes heading that way. If there's room you can park it on the dock itself for nowt I think.

Re: Bike shed show
Got any more bike pics?
I've seen some nice bikes from there on Facebook. Although I rode up to London yesterday afternoon I didn't want to go in enough to spend 18 quid to see a custom bike show so settled for the buzz of riding round London for a while, fuck me Docklands has changed a bit.
Stupidly I left my braces and wiskit at home so felt a bit self conscious as well.
Is it me getting old or are some of those characters comedy gold, Portlandia couldn't have done it better!
