    well that was fun

    and i still ache

Friday I took the day off and at 630 left to meet Fizzy, then off to Steve's to meet up with him and Jonny, which along the way, after a little traffic light GP, Fizz learns he can wheelie his ER6 .

they took the car so just went straight there, but me and fizz took the extended tour out through the new forest, blue skies, some lovely little single track bits and twisties under the trees, just watch out for the ponies.

we rock up at Crescent Suzuki after several wrong turns, just in time,to meet Paul our guide for the day, get kitted up and meet the soonnottobeveryshinyatall KTM250s

takes an age to get into all the gear, but i'm sure it's worth it (it was )

we have a quick potter around the car park trying to get used to it, it's all very tall, upright, feels a bit agricultural, but goes up and down kerbs alright.

we head out to find our first lane, and it doesnt take long before someone falls off (Fizzy ), next it's my turn, doing about 25 - 30 i fold the front trying to ride out a rut, face plant the floor, tumble, get stuck under the bike, foot goes in with the back wheel and the boot does a sterling job of stalling the engine... see i knew this gear was worth it

this is pretty much the order of the day - we make our way out to stonehenge, and stop for a carvery at the aptly named stonehenge inn & carvery which was lovely, nice full bellies and out for the afternoon stint back.

for me this was relatively crash free until the last 10 mins when i pretty much recreated the morning's effort only with much more mud and gusto, much to the amusement of the guy following me

the bike is amazing, just the speed at which you can hit massive big old ditches and pot holes that would destroy the car or a road bike but this thing, you soon get used to the "oh shit here comes a big one, best just pin the fucker then"

we all pull up, get out the gear and exchange pleasantries and good byes, everyone agrees it was an awesome day, fizz and i hop aboard for the ride back.

after the KTMs the r1 felt so compact it was brilliant riding home.

the next day though, my right hand was near useless, i think where i smacked the forearm, the muscles have swollen and now i cant pinch with forefinger and thumb, and the neck aches, but it's all good fun

oh and Paul does a really good job of stopping you getting yourself into too much trouble

so in conclusion - it's worth it i think, it's quite pricey but you get all the gear, it's a full day with lunch and drinks included, and if you're only going to do this sort of thing a few times a year, cheaper than getting a bike.

you'd love it, and probably be quite good, one of ours were the same sorta build as you, and whilst i was getting rocketed out the seat he just casually bobbed about.
