Many thanks for that.
While I'm at the keyboard, you wouldn't have a pair of rear lifting handles (or even just the left one) lying about would you? Mine are missing for some odd reason which makes it tricky to get on the centre stand.
The seat is still in the garage, it'll get posted at the weekend if I remember
Many thanks for that.

No, mine hasn't got them, it came with a god awful rack that went in the skip, I also don't have a centre stand, that rusty dead weight also went in the skip.
Many thanks Julian.
Hi Julian.
Seat has just arrived - many thanks. Now to get busy with the electric carving knife.
BTW your PM inbox is full.......
Work in progress:
£15 worth of foam (enough for about 3 seats), electric carving knife and electric file making short work of it. I have some 2-way stretch vinyl that I bought years ago for another job but never got around to using.
Is that the foam that was on the seat or the foam you've put on?
The yellow stuff is what was on; the greenish-blue is what's called "rebond" which is very firm and made up of chips glued together, so that's what I'm using to lift the front..
I'm not happy with the pillion end but will get some thin foam to smooth it out.
I'm aiming at a flat top losing the dip that the original has.
My only worry is that it'll end up too high!
Well, well... guess what I should see today but an immaculate N reg'd CB400F?
I saw a beautiful CBX in suburban Brum the other day - I think the first one I've seen on the road!
Sounded lovely.
Now departed to a new owner in favour of the V50.
I got back what I paid so happy with that.
You were going to let me have a ride on it when you did
[QUOTE=iansoady;2594351]Time for a change from the SLR650 and I'm considering CB400s. I must admit it's those lovely curvy exhausts that attracts me, being the shallow person that I am. Things to look out for?[/QUOTE
bad choice
