The Sunbeam is still for sale although I have had a couple of derisory offers. After a bit of a reshuffle in the garage I've decided I can house 3 bikes, at least on a short term basis, so have gone for this:

Not quite starting when I viewed it but an acceptable offer was made so it will be winging its way to me next week.

Quite a change from the 'Beam but I do like a challenge!

    Is it an Arrow?

Shouldn't it have a gold tank

It is an Arrow. The Arrow Super Sports, also known as the Golden Arrow did have a gold tank. This one should have been red or blue but actually I prefer that pale gold which looks quite classy.

I don't think I've ever seen a 'normal' Arrow in the wild, they all seem to be Golden Arrows, I guess people jazz the normal one up to make others think they've got a Golden Arrow?

Manic from here had an Arrow in a box or two. I don't know if he ever got it on the road.

Chap I know had one and it was bugger to start when hot. Apparently squirting pure oxygen down the inlets is a cure.

Shit hot in their day, from what my father told me.

Still got it BB and it's still in boxes! I've now called it my "retirement project" - only 20 years to go! When I bought it (I was on a lot of morphine in hospital at the time!) I thought it was so ugly - but I'm warming to it ...

Yes, I'll be popping over to the NMM to check a few things out once I have a good look at the Arrow.

It's a real shame BSA cut off the Leader / Arrow development process as it was about the only really new thinking in the British bike industry at the time. That 4 cylinder bike could have been a real world beater and as you imply beat BMW to the line by several years. OTOH some say the Leader / Arrow was heavily influenced by the Adler.
