Will do.
It may be a little while however......
I'd quite like to ride a well set up plunger to see if the one I tried was a particularly bad example.
Be sure to post up a ride report once you have it sorted Ian![]()

Eventually sorted - ended up cutting through the spindle ("bearer bar") on the offending side with an angle grinder. So I needed a new one. Sadly my local Norton dealer was out of stock. My mini Chinese lathe wasn't up to making one so a nice chap from the IKBA forum (retired toolmaker by the name of Divie) has just made one in his well-equipped machine shop. Very nice job, fits like a dream and very quickly completed.

Slowly moving on......
After a lot of struggling and 5 failed attempts I managed to get the primary chaincase to seal - I have to confess to using a small amount of silicone however.
I've had the bike up & running - started quite easily and sounded good although a bit rattly at the top end, probably due to the oil having drained away. It was not running well however, so have removed the carb (a Monobloc which of course is incorrect for the year). Slide rattling about, all sorts of gunge in it but I have a spare little used carb so after checking for correct jets etc will rebuild that with new gaskets and hopefully that will eliminate one source of trouble.
Hopefully will be able to try it on the road before long but am away for quite a while so it will be July before I can do much more.
I’m in the UK for the second week of June, so I don’t know if this is any use to you but I’ve got an ultrasonic cleaner and if you get the carb up to me I’ll run it through a couple of times.
Im also home for most of July if you get it running and fancy an epic classic ride out somewhere.
Many thanks for the offer.
I feel that epic rides are not quite on the cards yet however..... Due as much to my limitations as the bike's.
I think I may have bought one of these from you......
This reminds me that I hadn't posted a link to the Norton up & running. Since then I've had a lot of plating done, made new control cables etc etc etc as well as tidying up the paintwork.
It’s only firing on one cylinder.
A beauty for sure, not for me but I so like the style of these bikes!
