Through the kind generosity of a good friend, I am now the owner of a Yamaha XT600E (52 plate). It currently has supermoto rims on the standard hubs but I would like to get a set of standard size off road wheels for green laning.
I understand OEM wheels are rarer than rocking horse poo so I'm guessing it's new wheels but I've no idea where to start - OEM hubs/after market rims, budget cost?
Any useful advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks.

Rims don't have to be expensive, but Excel rims and HD spokes make for very strong wheels.

Then buy a complete set of 2nd hand wheels, the Yamaha hubs are really good for road use as they have a crush drive (I think, it's a very long time since I looked at XT600s), most off road wheels don't.
Supermoto wheels and tyres are fine on dry trails btw, Supermoto brakes aren't that cracky off road though.
