He used to not provide links to his quotes. I think perhaps he should have stuck to that policy as it meant one had to put a wee bit of effort into ridiculing his comments. Now all one has to do is click the link to find the absurdity of the "evidence" buttressing his argument.

He's made up his mind that the Democrats turn a blind eye to gang bangers by not adopting a resolution banning them from owning guns. It's fucking hilarious as it's coming from someone who'd tell you that banning guns means only the bad guys (includes gang bangers) will have guns. That the link is to a website noted for its conspiracy theory bullshit AND doesn't fully reflect reality is irrelevant. You must agree with him or your opinion is invalid.

it seems the US will do everything it can to stop gun violence - except banning guns. School shootings: Sandy Hook parents' haunting video warning

The families of children killed in the Sandy Hook mass shooting have put out a haunting video, showing how "back to school essentials" can be used to survive a school shooting.

It starts out normally enough, with kids showing off their new bags and snazzy folders.

The mood shifts, when one boy puts on his headphones and fails to see people behind him running from gunshots.

It ends saying "school shootings are preventable if you know the signs".

The video has been published by Sandy Hook Promise, a non-profit organisation led by the families of children killed at the Sandy Hook primary school in Connecticut in 2012.

If this is not the sign that a whole nation has got its priorities seriously wrong, the I don't know what is. Seriously. Fucked. Up

I believe they've given up on anything of meaning coming from the government as long as it's being run by Putin's puppet the NRA Republicans.

Dunno if we've done this yet, but the beeb is reporting this morning that colt will no longer manufacturer 'sporting rifles' like the AR15 for the civilian market.

    1) the AR15 is not a sporting rifle
    2) good

Agreed, but the yanks have got to start somewhere and it's good that even the gun makers and sellers are starting to realise that perhaps they need to wind it back a bit.

I wouldn't be giving Colt credit for trying to wind things back. There are enough ARs sitting in the marketplace - they don't need to make more. Oh, they're also not doing well, financially speaking.

Back in the day thousands of mil-spec weapons passed through my shop for the military and every AK-47 imported by Norinco came our way for serial numbers because the ATF had us down as a licensed gun dealer. Companies sent us weapons for different processes and we returned them to be passed on to their customers.

On any day we could have armed a battalion in an afternoon. This went on for years. Colt was a big customer but non of their assault rifles came through our shop. Strictly hand guns and mostly revolvers. So not the weapons of choice for day dreaming have a go heroes.

An off-duty Alhambra police officer shot and wounded himself during what officials described as a "road rage incident" in San Marino on Sunday morning.

The shooting took place about 8:40 a.m. amid a "traffic dispute" between two drivers that took place in the area of Duarte Road and San Gabriel Boulevard, San Marino Police Department Sgt. Rob Cervantes said in a written statement.

"The driver of a blue Subaru was allegedly driving erratically in the area," the statement said. "The second driver, in a dark colored Mercedes, pulled alongside the driver of the blue Subaru and attempted to contact the driver."

"The driver of the Mercedes motioned for the driver of the Subaru to roll down his window," according to Cervantes. "At some point during the contact, it is believed that the driver of the Subaru suffered a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to their torso."

Paramedics took the gunshot victim to a hospital, where he was being treated for an injury not considered to be life-threatening.

No arrests had been made in connection with the incident Sunday afternoon, Cervantes said.
The wounded person was identified by several sources as an off-duty Alhambra Police Department officer.

San Marino police declined to confirm that the injured person was a law enforcement officer. No further details regarding the circumstances of the shooting were released.
Alhambra police investigators responded to the scene.

Alhambra police referred questions to the San Marino Police Department.

A Kansas man who was shot with his own gun is headed to federal prison after admitting that he was illegally possessing the weapon.
Keeno DeVonte Collins, 26, of Ozawkie, was sentenced Wednesday to 30 months in federal prison, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said in a news release. He previously pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Collins admitted in the plea deal he had been shot in the arm June 15, 2018, while on the campus of Topeka West High School, and that DNA from blood smeared on the pistol matched his own. He told police and medical personnel that he didn’t remember what happened.

Federal prosecutors in the release said that Collins “probably shot himself with (a) gun he was prohibited from having.”

Collins was not allowed to have the handgun, a Taurus Millennium PT140 PRO .40 caliber pistol, because of a prior felony drug conviction. The court ordered that the firearm be forfeited to the federal government.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Collins, who is also known as the alias “Dolla,” was convicted in 2015 in Shawnee County of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute. Additional felony convictions include a pair of forgery charges in Shawnee County in 2015, as well as an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in Jefferson County in 2012.
Topeka police were first called to the high school after receiving a call about gunshots in the area, and the caller suggested that a man shot himself, according to the narrative in the plea agreement. Officers found Collins with a through-and-through gunshot wound to his upper left arm, and he told AMR paramedics that he didn’t know what happened, but that he was by himself when he was shot.

Collins was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital, where he “was agitated and combative” with the staff. He indicated he didn’t want medical attention, signed papers to be discharged and walked out of the hospital.
The next morning, a school employee who was exercising at a football practice field found a gun in the grass. Police examined the pistol, which had blood smears on it and no bullets in the magazine.
A family member of Collins called police at around the same time and told a detective that he had shown up at her house the night before. He had been crying and told her that he had been shot with his own gun.
Police interviewed Collins at a police station, and he said that he couldn’t carry a firearm because he was a felon and that he did not shoot a gun the night before. A search of his phone turned up photos of the same gun that was found at the school football field. A Kansas Bureau of Investigation comparison of his DNA showed it matched swabs taken from the gun.

ZRX: I'm not sure what the point of your last 2 posts is. Are you suggesting that neither police officers nor "convicted felons" should be allowed anywhere near a gun?

Does that seem unreasonable? Bearing in mind there was a post a few days ago about educating kids on safe gun handling, perhaps they ought to put the rozzers and perps through that too?

Perfectly reasonable. At least the kids have had the education. Maybe they should be the ones carrying - might be safer for everybody.
