250 I think will be too gutless.

This bike will get used in rain and in winter, maybe 3 days a week. So I don't really want to spend money I can put toward the 1290. I may just have the bite the bullet and get the CB500.

But I really don't want to. It's so terrible.

I guess I could buy lowering links.

    Dorsoduro 750?

It's not really a proper SM but it looks like one. I've got a 30" inside leg too, and have no problems reaching the ground. Three engine maps, Sport, Touring and Rain. I've done 200 mile days on mine and still been able to walk afterwards. Prices from ~3k. You won't get 90 miles on a tank though, I average 65-70 miles till the light comes on.

Filling up every day? Hmm. Nice bike. I'm going to go to a place that has a big range of bikes on Monday, all used, and see what happens. They have some DRZ etc in stock.

If you listen to people that have never owned them they do! Build quality was never their forte, but then whose is today? That said my 51 reg rotaxed engined R30 was a shed load better quality than my KTM LC4 of the same year and only one of them blew its engine up and it wasn't the CCM. The 710cc R30 I had was a later one (cant remember which year) and had a much better build quality all round and the main components were the Suzuki engine, WP shocks and forks, Renthal bars, Excel rims and hubs and was probably a better street SM than say a DR400 or Yam XT...

Tried sitting on some Bikes. Really struggled. Reckon 860mm is as tall as I'd want to gonna light-ish bike. May have to change my thinking. Do have a ride to a shop in Milton Keynes planned, this is all they sell and they are sure they'll sort me out. If not Duke 690 will be bought.
