Default Husqvarna 610 2 fettling in preperation to sell

Just putting this up here for anyone interested.

When I got this bike I found two major problems with it:

    1. A magnet completely missing from the flywheel

    2. A stretched cam chain wearing the oil reed valve

I've mounted the flywheel I bought from Screwdriver already:

That just leaves the cam chain to do and of course replacing the worn reed valve whilst I am there.

Here is a picture of what I mean:
    DSCF0648.jpg
This is a known problem with the new shaped ones, there was never any wear like this on my '01 when I went to replace the cam chain.

The reason I am selling this is because unlike the old 610 which was an enduro with road wheels and a big brake, this new shaped 610 seems to have been built from the ground up as a supermoto which isn't really what I wanted.

I am eager to leave this in good condition for the new owner which is also hopefully make it easier to sell as well.

It appears that cam chains aren't kept on the shelf at the main dealers (well lings husqvarna that are as good as useless anyway) and the lead time means that it won't arrive until October!

    They are beyond useless actually😠

According to a link on cafehusky.com I need either a did scr0412 sdh or sv in 122 links.

Can't find either on ebay so I'm a bit stuck! Definitely won't be changing it for awhile, gonna phone up husky sport and see if they've got any.

Edit: huskysport to the rescue! On the shelf and sent out today!

They need a website and parts finder though!

How many times have I told you to ring Huskysport for spares?

I know Julian, my excuses are two fold

    1. I have a short attention span

    and

    2. on the huskymoto.co.uk website they have a rather nifty parts finder where you just copy and paste the part number from the parts fiche and it comes up with a price and a (supposed) lead time.

Unfortunately that is the only nifty thing about that particular dealer, the rest of it is rubbish.

I kept forgetting all about Husky Sport until I was forced to remember them. It's quite amazing how they had it on the shelf!

To be fair on the website it gives the impression it is for the new models. Speaking of new models you would think that with KTM now behind Husqvarna Husky Sport would loose their niche in the market but it doesn't seem that way thankfully.

All things being well hopefully I can get the cam chain done this weekend, finish tarting it up and then take some nice pics and put it up on eBay. Then get a WR450F or similar! Need to get back off road again desperately!

If I could keep it I probably would but I need a 1 bike solution and this new model isn't a lot like the old model 610.

Every time I phoned Husky Sport they had the part I wanted, it'd be interesting to see their stock list - I wonder if they have frames in stock.

Well, a meticulously planned cam chain job over the weekend was going so smoothly and to schedule until I found out that the cam chain was wrong

Somehow, I ended up with a 126 link cam chain. My invoice says 122 link, yet now I've had a closer look at the DID packet is has "126 LE" printed on it which obviously means 126 links!

    New cam chain:

    Excuse my gangly hands!

Obviously there's no where I can get a Husqvarna 610 cam chain on the high street at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and I'm at work all week so now this has to wait until next weekend!

    Oh dear!

I bet with a bit of persuasion could get one of those delivered by Tuesday. Maybe even sooner, depending on the carrier.

Nearly finished getting it back together.

Rode into work this morning, gonna start polishing operations next week, saw a 2007 with 7500 miles and a carbon can at 2200 not sell on ebay so a bit worried about shifting this...

Quite a small market potential for that type of bike, if you had say an mt07 you'd have 50 possible customers, with a husky you have 1-2

I suspect anyone who's seen the threads would not be a potential buyer......

    Threads plural.

The history of this bike wouldn't fill me with confidence. But what do I know?
