You don't have to give details, a simple yes or no will suffice.

I read something a while ago about this and wondered about your experience in the matter.

I suppose I meant something he'd actually been a bit closer to but even him saying them would be something I guess.
Again, I don't expect him to stand up and say he launched someone down a flight of concrete steps then claimed they assaulted him.

I'm more interested in the statistics of the matter.
Can't even remember the book I was reading that prompted me to think of this, might have been Freakanomics?

No - I just wanted to see if you would, without trying to justify the IRA, condemn them.

    Doesn’t seem you will.

    Assuming you mean rehash

    Yeah, sure.
Thats part of the fun isn't it? I'm not totally innocent in that matter either.

An ex-Met guy I know said that the guy they were after had been in the car just before.

But even if you're both right, the point still stands: an unarmed bloke was shot five times. Amazingly, he survived.

Finch, meanwhile, had made his way round to the driver's side, where he leaned into the car, aimed his revolver between Waldorf's eyes and said, "OK, cocksucker," before pulling the trigger, but the gun did not fire. Finding that he had already used all his ammunition, Finch then pistol whipped Waldorf until he lost consciousness.

Detectives Jardine and Finch stood trial for attempted murder and attempted wounding of Waldorf, but were acquitted of all charges in October 1983 after the judge, Mr Justice Croom-Johnson, directed the jury that they should not assume that just because an innocent, unarmed man had been shot it necessarily meant that anyone should be found guilty of an offence.

Aye, it's good when Justice is seen to be done.

There's never been a time when this question wouldn't look like it was loaded but I'm genuinely interested in your answer.

Have you ever witnessed a serious miscarriage of justice where the police have been culpable?
Even if maybe they were a wrong un usually but just didn't do the thing they went to prison for?
You don't have to give details, a simple yes or no will suffice.

I read something a while ago about this and wondered about your experience in the matter.
Ive never been directly involved with a corruption type of case but I have worked with people that have acted illegally and been caught out ..At least 3 of them ended up serving time ..in 2 of the cases, the miscarriage was the officer foolishly trying to ‘do the right thing’ by doing the wrong thing ..( in one case, the officer completed a witness statement over the phone, and then forgot to send an original for signature ..file was required urgently and believing the statement was true he forged the witness signature...when it got to trial witness agreed the statement was correct but she had never signed it ...he got 6 months and lost everything ...nobody could understand why he didn’t just get her to sign it at court .. )

    Fair enough, thanks for answering.

I meant to ask you this ages ago but could never seem to find a time when it wouldnt seem like I was trying to catch you out. I'm not.
Eventually I just thought bugger it, and asked anyway. I know this thread isn't the best place for this by the way, was just interested in your answer.

    Cheers for that.
