    Default French emissions stickers

    A whole lot of permanent and temporary restricted zones have been created in France. Permanent ones tend to be large cities so possibly not an issue for most of us. However, the temporary ones can cover entire departments eg Pyrenées Atlantique. See here.

    But don't buy a vignette from them as it's very expensive. Get it here instead.

    It's very unclear how, when or even if the restrictions will be applied in the larger areas. But don't be caught out. The vignette only costs €4.80.

    I think you'll find you can - Classe 5. All you need is a scan of the V5C.

    This will mean it's at the bottom of the pecking order but better than not having one at all.

    I don't understand their table of categories. what I read was this
    Entry Bans – Vehicles without Crit'Air Vignette

    The following vehicles will not be assigned to any category. This means that these vehicles will get no Crit'Air Vignette:

    • All vehicles having been registered before 1st January 1997;

    Yes, you are as always correct - had misread that section.

    Two of my riding mates had them last year as we passed through Lille, two of us didn't bother so I'm 4.80 better off. Will be getting one for the new car though as I'm going through Lille again and visiting Strasbourg, it's a hybrid though so I can be extra sanctimonious

    Went to Paris a few weeks ago in our new car. I realised the day before - too late to get the vignette - that we were supposed to have this crit'aire thing. So I just printed the category one version off the website and wrote on it that it was for a 2018 'essence' and hence 'Euro 6'. Didn't get a ticket. But then - maybe cos of the snow - probably no-one looked at it.

    Actually, I wonder with a GB plate whether they'd bother? (DYOR etc..)

    Got one for the van (obviously) but i suspect that while it'll be something the cities take seriously (environmental health), in the sticks it'll just be another fine to throw at you if the local plod are in a bag mood.

    As in 'bagging a few more fines'?
