Better change the thread title from resto to modification!

Groundskeeper at my HS went that route. He did proddy racing with a '75 Trident. School mower was a ride behind affair with a 350cc engine connected to a 3 speed box with reverse. Daft bugger cleaned up the ports, fitted an old Amal carb & reverse cone mega exhaust to it & changed the sprockets to alter the gearing. Sounded like a Manx Norton as he roared past the assembled kids at a mind boggling.......

    ...25mph..

    Love the image that prompts.
Unfortunately, the only spare engine I have lying around is a supercharged 4.0V8 from a Jag XJR.
Not sure I could get the weight down low enough for the lawn tractor.

This thread is gathering momentum. I can see a TRC straight Story evolving...

Thumbs up Re: Suffolk Punch resto

I'm going to clean the blades up with a flap disk and run some stripes into the garden!

Nope. I'm going to buy a new fuel tap and fuel hose. Might have to stick my trainers in the bin too...

Chains all look good. No slop or excess wear.

The tap rubber had perished and the fuel line looks like a length of propane hose. I'll be taking the kids to the local mower shop this afternoon.

Sorted. I'll give it a spin round the front garden in a bit.

    Needs a respray now.
Black with a nice "Flaming Collector Box" motif I think.
