    Optimise pages to reduce data use by up to 60% ...

    What's the catch - there has to be one, otherwise they wouldn't fund it?

    Opera used to do that years ago, I guess the catch is they get to analyse every web page you look at.

    IIRC, back in dial-up & download limit days, there were options to do similar.

    I was wondering about that - but aren't they doing that already, to provide targeted ads etc.?

    At the moment they see what you are searching for, with this idea they will see the content of every page. Whether they keep information on you I don't know, it would be a dangerous thing for a company to do at the moment.
