I'd rather keep the cash in my premium bonds when it's so cheap to borrow.

    They fucking dont. Do they?

    Fuck off do they?

    Really?

Fuck you vauxhall. The only two desirable cars you've made in the last 40 years have been a rebadged Lotus and a Rebadged Holden.

    VX220 and the Monaro/VXR8?

    You're forgetting the Lotus Carlton.

I've been googling Vauxhall as it sounded ridiculous, I saw that comment from GM a few years back when they said Chevrolet was their budget British brand and Vauxhall the premium one. I found several articles about how x car is to be the next BMW/VAG/JLR beater and more articles about how it's failing. Then I discovered GM had given up and sold the Vauxhall/Opel brand to PSA group last year and it looks like yet again they will try and sell premium cars under the labels.

Though another piece in December implies PSA may keep the Opel brand and give up on Vauxhall as a dead loss, the thought of a Vauxhall being given French technology certainly doesn't inspire me to buy one.

The only thing I've seen putting Vauxhall and Premium in the same sentence was some blurb about the new Insignia, and even then I *think* it was purely about putting it against BMW/Audi/Merc as it was a move to a more premium car.

    Edit*

Even then it looks like it just about the interior.

Despite Vauxhall’s claims about premium interior quality the Insignia Sports Tourer is not about to tear buyers away from their Audis and BMWs. However, it does represent a serious rival to estate versions of the VW Passat, Ford Mondeo and Skoda Superb, particularly when you factor in its aggressive pricing.

I saw a timeline where GM declared in 1988 that Opel was a premium brand (by then Vauxhall and Opel were producing the same cars), then this US article from 2008 which gives the Yank view on it:
    http://articles.latimes.com/2008/oct...s/fi-factory18
For years, Ford and GM have been building high-end compact cars for Europe, routinely winning awards for such models as Ford's Mondeo and GM's Vauxhall Corsa. The cars emphasized high-end detailing and offered options reserved on these shores for premium brands. They cost more, but consumers happily paid because in Europe, Ford and GM are premium brands.
Maybe the American definition of premium brand is different to ours.

I can't believe no one thinks that Vauxhall's aren't head turners.

It can't be just me that looks away..

I thought the Tigra did in the press photos but after seeing it for real I wish I hadn't.
