He's still considered a winner. Not many of them about.

I do hope it is a jump to Yamaha. Maybe he will run the Team!! That could be a blinder!

I'd love to see him win a championship, I personally think that may be beyond him but he's without doubt a race front runner.

If he had the consistency and was less injury prone he'd certainly be in with a shot. On his day he's as fast as any of them, there's just not enough of those days. Perhaps he will have decided after many years of throwing himself into gravel traps enough is enough and he can use his vast experience to run a team, in which case all props to him, though personally I'd love it if he could stay out a little longer and treat us to some more of that Dani magic

I think he doesn't have the same aggression required to win championships these days. When he got close many years ago, I think the racing was less elbows out / banging into each other.

Like TC, I'd like to see him out there for another season at least.

The team is confirmed . But if Dani signs for them, it rules Bradders out. Otherwise he's in with a chance of the second Yamaha. Hmmm.

The identity of the Yamaha satellite team took a while to be announced and I suspect it wasn't an easy slot to fill, since almost certainly in a few years time the VR46 team will scoop up the contract, meaning anyone taking it now will know they're doing a lot of work that will be taken away in a few years. As for riders, Dani is certainly a possibility, though his departure from Honda suggests to me he's looking to move his career to non riding roles.

There's plenty of time to make way for more than 4 Yamahas on the grid, 4 x factory + 2 x previous years bikes..
