    About three weeks back, Dropbox stopped synching on my Win 7 desktop...

    I can access via the web and the Win 10 desktop client works on my tablet, so the problem is not with my Dropbox.

    So checked I had the latest upgrade, and still no joy.

    Uninstalled, reinstalled.

    Now I can't get past the log-in asking me to connect with my account. The timer shows for a couple of minutes then the box just goes black. The only way I can exit the task at that point is via Task Manager, by killing the process.

    It's been working fine for several years on this PC, I can't think of any changes I've made (I've not changed a/v or firewall, or router settings) but I can't find a fix. I can't even find anyone with a similar problem.

    Any shots in the dark as to where the connection between the client and the Dropbox server is coming unstuck?

    If I can't fix it, I can work round it but it'll be a bit of a pain. I run a series of portable programs direct from the synched folder which means wherever I use them, all the data is up to date.

    Have you contacted Dropbox?

    It could be some sort of account restriction.

    Hadn't thought of that... I recently changed a whole bunch of log-in email addresses and user names thanks to yet another data breach. Dropbox might have been amongst them so, I can't actually remember but it's just possible I missed some kind of activation email.

    Hang on... nope, can't be that... don't even get to the point of entering log-in credentials and still works on Win10.
