If you don't subscribe but have a dish, box etc can you still watch free to air channels on it?

I know you used to be able to but not had it for ages, asking as our signal is awful and if it's worth hooking a box up to the dish.

Yes. None of the pay one obs, plus you won't be able to use a lot of the functions, such as live pause, etc.

Sky do a deal on that - 10 a month and you can use the record functions.

Unless things have changed, you won't get Dave. Which means you probably won't get others.

iirc the box needs to have a viewing card, even to watch Poorview.

However if the box doesn't have one, sky will sell you a Poorview one for a tenner, I think and as GS mentioned you can still pause/record/etc.. if you pay an additional subscription.

I'm sure the base Sky package is only 16 a month.

    I'm getting ch 1 - 5 and that's it (no card).

Still better than just bbc1 when there's pretty much any weather, and they're HD.
I'll look into a card just for freeview I think.

Was this ever an actual thing? The cards are individual so would just be cancelled if "misplaced" or the staff would have them away surely?

Is there still a bloke called Derek or Nigel down the local pub who can chip them up for about forty quid?
