I've been given a Kindle paper white which has sat in adrawer for over a year. tried to charge it using 2 different chargers that both work on my wifes Kindle, but this one wont take a charge. Tried holding power button down to do a forced reset but all it displays is a critical charge error. Anyone replaced a battery in one of these? Or know what it would cost to get it replaced?

Prise it apart, remove the frame, change the battery. For 20 plus parts I'll do it for you.

I changed the battery on a Sony ereader. It was relatively simple, if fiddly. There are lots of instruction videos for Paperwhites on youtube, I expect it would be the same sort of job.

You can get replacement batteries on ebay or Amazon.

N.B. I've just had a look at one of the youtube videos and the Kindle looks even easier than the Sony.
