I've been using a nexus 7 for the last 4 years for Sat nav and audio control in my Camper. Sadly either the nexus is dying or the satnav files are just too big as it's struggling to keep up.

So I think a new one is on the cards.

Ideally 7". I could go bigger but a 7" fits nicely

Large memory (over 32gb). I have a lot of music.

A dock that can can charge it, preferably the dock will ease connection to my speakers (I'm thinking bluetooth, though cable is an option). But the dock MUST allow it to sit in landscape mode.

Ideally it'll also be available on 3 mobile network, though not essential.

Shame you need mobile data, cos the Fire HD 8 is an excellent upgrade over a Nexus 7.

It's got a microSD card slot, there's an official landscape dock (dunno if the dock has an audio jack) and it's loads quicker than my original N7.

They're cheap as chips and dead easy to get the google stuff on to.

What KFB said about microSD - they're up to 250Gb or so these days so plenty of space for music files, better than having it all on the tablet, getting in the way.

No idea about what actual tablet though - I know little about them.

I've got a Fire, it's okay, operating system isn't as good as Android though, but it comes down to budget, we've also got a Samsung which works fine and a Nexus which was better but the USB port is fecked on it.

The current Fire's are android. It's just got an Amazon skin on it.

You can install all the google apps and the Play Store really really easily.

I'll have to see what version mine is, I think it's a Fire 8, but that could be total bollocks, the OS deosn't feel as smooth as our Android Samsung, it hangs for a second quite often.

The Samsung will have better hardware. My Fire HD8 was only 60 iirc

I don't think mine cost that much, it's a 32GB one, came from John Lewis, it's blue.
