    We all make mistakes.

I think I'd have parked at least one bike back down the road before the bend to protect anyone who may be walking on the road.

The first bloke to come off blamed it on hitting a hole in the road. There may also have been some gravel. It's to be hoped he never rides over here or he'd spend more time in the ditch than on the tarmac.

And I can't, for the life of me, figure out what the second rider's excuse was.

Seen this one before. Lack of training more than anything else I think. Having watched riders on various group rides struggle with anything approaching a hairpin, it's not entirely surprising. It's hard to see but I suspect the second rider was watching the first rather than the road - as soon as you turn your head to look over the right shoulder, most people veer off to the right.

The people toughest to train (and that's after ~4000 courses and counting) the hardest to teach are those who already know the answers.

Why did it take the spectators so long to park their bikes?

I reckon that corner has an upward part that doesn't really show on the video very clearly. Thats why the first HD went over, ran out of speed and wasn't able to drop gears fast enough to compensate .the 2nd guy, a mixture of watching his mate and the same misjudgement of speed.

Easily done.i did almost the same thing last weekend .following a mate I looked down (it was dark and foggy) to try get my bearings for some daft reason.i immediately started to follow my eyes and ran off the road into the gravel .luckily I held it upright as only going slow.
im pretty au fait with hairpins and I've not done anything like that before and hopefully not in the future .

Second one was a classic case of you go where you look. He was looking at his mate going down and turned into the bend... ouch! That is a lot of pig iron to have to pick up.

I don't think any amount of training can fix that level of stupid.

I'd say it's inexperience more than stupidity.

    Which gives a clue...

He probably target fixated on the surface and lost track of the course of the bike vs the road.

He probably went rigid on the bars and lost the ability to steer.

    I was wondering "what hole?"

I wondered that at first until I watched it several times in slow motion. He mentioned it at 2:30, 2:50 and more detailed at 4:20. There was some slight damage to parts of the road surface but nothing that I'd be bothered about. He said, "I hit that hole, I tried to correct and caught that...." pointing at something not visible at the time on the video.

Camber to the right looks knackered with to much traffic over the years. Under the power ranger in white it looks like a large dip
